Our take on this /// Verdict
The Ducati Monster 950 is a compelling package that balances performance, handling, and comfort, making it a versatile choice for both experienced and newer riders. The bikes 937cc L-twin engine delivers linear and predictable power, with a strong midrange and top end that makes it exhilarating to ride. The new aluminium monocoque chassis and reduced weight by 18kg enhance its agility and handling, making it a joy to navigate through city traffic and twisty roads. However, there are some drawbacks, such as the lack of tractability at low speeds, noticeable heat from the engine in traffic, and a firm suspension that can be felt over rough roads. Despite these, the comprehensive suite of electronics, including cornering traction control and ABS, adds to its safety and fun factor. Overall, its a bike that is both ballistic for experienced riders and friendly enough for those progressing from smaller machines.
Price
In India, the Ducati Monster 950, particularly the SP variant, comes with a hefty price tag. The ex-showroom price for the Monster SP is around Rs 15.95 lakh, which translates to over Rs 20 lakh on-road in cities like Mumbai. This premium pricing is due to the top-flight equipment, including Öhlins suspension and other exclusive features. While the price may seem steep, it reflects the bikes high-quality build, advanced electronics, and the exclusivity that comes with owning a Ducati. However, the regular Monster variant might offer better value, especially considering the sizable discounts that have been available on it.
2024 Ducati Monster 950 on road price is Rs 14.91 lakh in Delhi, Rs 15.41 lakh in Mumbai, Rs 15.09 lakh in Kolkata, and Rs 15.28 lakh in Chennai. The prices mentioned here are approximate and we suggest you contact your nearest Ducati dealership to get the exact on-road price quote in your city.
Latest Updates

The 2023 Ducati Monster Plus has been updated with new features, including a fly screen and a seat cowl, making it more versatile for various riding conditions. This version is now the base model for the US market but is also available in other regions. The bike retains its powerful 937 cc Testastretta 11° twin-cylinder engine, delivering 111 hp at 9,250 rpm. I believe these updates make the Monster even more appealing to riders looking for a balance of performance and practicality.

Production of the new Ducati Monster began in April 2021, with the bike becoming available in North American Ducati dealerships shortly after. This new model features a redesigned aluminum front frame, reducing the overall weight to 366 lb, and includes Ducati Quick Shift Up/Down as standard. The bike also comes with three Riding Modes and a 4.3 color TFT dashboard. I think the weight reduction and new features will make this Monster a joy to ride.

The new Ducati Monster, launched in 2021, boasts significant improvements, including a more powerful 937 cc engine producing 111 hp and 9.5 kgm of torque. The bikes design has been reinterpreted with a more contemporary vision, retaining key elements like the bison-back fuel tank and circular headlight. Customization options are also available, allowing riders to personalize their bikes. I believe the combination of power and design makes this Monster a standout in its class.

Ducati has emphasized the importance of customization with the new Monster, offering stickers and cover kits that enhance the bikes sporty look. The Monster is available in several colors, including Ducati Red, Dark Stealth, and Aviator Grey, with the Monster Plus version adding a front fairing and passenger seat cover. This focus on customization will likely appeal to riders who want a unique bike. I think this is a great move by Ducati to cater to individual tastes.

The new Monster features advanced technology, including the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) that allows smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth and a USB port for charging. The bike also has a 4.3 color TFT dashboard with racing graphics, making it easier for riders to manage various settings through the handlebar controls. I believe these tech additions enhance the overall riding experience significantly.
Mileage
Monday, 18 November 2024 08:30 PM
The mileage of the Ducati Monster 950 in India is not its strongest suit. With a fuel tank capacity of around 14 liters, the bikes range is limited to approximately 250 km, depending on riding conditions. This makes it less suitable for long tours or frequent long-distance commuting. In city riding, the bikes fuel efficiency is moderate, but the engines tendency to generate significant heat and the lack of tractability at low speeds can affect overall fuel consumption. For those who prioritize mileage, this might not be the best choice, but for riders who value performance and handling, the trade-off is worth considering.
