Monday, 03 February 2020 06:17 PM Cagiva, owned by MV Agusta, announced plans to revive the brand by transitioning to electric motorcycles, with a focus on urban mobility. The new electric Cagiva motorcycles are expected to be easy to drive and have power outputs below 4kW. This move aims to increase sales from around 3,000 units to 25,000 units. I think this is a smart move to adapt to changing market demands and environmental regulations.
Monday, 31 December 2012 01:02 PM In 2012, Cagiva suspended the production of the Mito due to stringent environmental emission requirements and a shift in resources towards MV Agustas F3 model. The last few Mito SP525s produced were white and personally signed by MV Agusta CEO Giovanni Castiglioni. This marked the end of an era for the iconic two-stroke Mito. I believe this was a necessary step, but its sad to see such a legendary bike go out of production.
Thursday, 30 November 2006 07:29 AM Cagiva unveiled the Mito 500 concept at EICMA in November 2006. This concept bike replaced the traditional two-stroke 125cc engine with a fuel-injected, four-stroke 500cc DOHC single engine from Husqvarna. The Mito 500 weighed just 4 kilograms more than the Mito 125 and featured forged alloy wheels. This was an interesting direction, but it never made it to mass production.
Saturday, 31 December 2005 05:40 PM In 2005, Cagiva launched the Mito SP525, a limited production tuned competition version of the Mito. This bike was not road-legal and produced over 39hp at the crank. It featured modified front and rear fairings and eight-spoke forged aluminum wheels. This version was a homage to the Cagiva GP500 racing bike. I think this was a great tribute to their racing heritage.
Saturday, 31 December 1994 04:48 AM Valentino Rossi, the eventual nine-time MotoGP world champion, started his career with the Cagiva Mito. In 1994, Rossi won the Italian title riding a factory Mito provided by Cagiva team manager Claudio Lusuardi. This bike was a significant part of Rossis early success. Its amazing to see how this bike played a role in shaping his career.
Sunday, 31 December 1989 03:19 PM The Cagiva Mito was first introduced in 1989 as a small-engined sports motorcycle. It featured a 125cc two-stroke single-cylinder engine and was known for its sporty design and performance. The Mito quickly gained popularity among young riders and became a rival to Aprilias AF1 125 Futura. I think this bike was a game-changer in the 125cc segment back then.
