Quick Review by Maxabout Team

BMW K 1300 R is a naked motorcycle manufactured by BMW, which made its debut at the end of 2008 as BMW's flagship urban motorcycle, also considered a muscle bike by some. It also replaced BMW K 1200 R which was their earlier masterpiece. Bollywood actor Aamir Khan rode BMW K1300R superbike in super hit action movie 'Dhoom 3', which was released on 20th December 2013 and since then this bike has become more popular in India among superbike enthusiasts and lovers.

BMW K 1300 R is a superb bike with some striking features which are worth mentionable including a bridge-type frame with cast aluminium and load-bearing engine, a conventional indicator switch instead of a usually confusing BMW 3-button configuration, its new hexagonal tube with a catalytic converter, a superb exhaust valve, standard ABS, an automatic shift function, a sporty MotoGP-style 2D dashboard, lots of luggage options, stylish front dual headlights and tail light, black and split grab rail, neatly designed fuel tank, a sporty riding experience, black rearview mirrors, large air intakes, nice front fender, nicely positioned footpegs and handlebar, clear lens indicators, 17-inch cast-aluminium alloy wheels with tubeless radial tires and the optional ESA II system and ASC traction control.

This bike has a length of 2228mm, a width of 856mm (including mirrors) and a height of 1095mm as its dimensions along with a seat height of 790mm which can be extended up to 820mm by the addition of accessories. It has a large wheelbase of 1585mm for a stable ride along with a front and rear suspension travel of 115mm and 135mm respectively and an inner leg curve of 1750mm which can also be extended up to 1810mm by adding the accessories. It has a fuel tank capacity of 19-litres with approximately 4-litres for reserve and a fully fuelled, road-ready, weight of 243kgs with a total permitted weight of 460kgs. It has a castor and a steering head angle of 104.4mm and 60.4-degrees respectively.

It has a powerful 1293cc, 4-stroke, in-line 4-cylinders, 16-valves DOHC, water-cooled engine with a maximum power of 173 bhp at 9,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 140 Nm at 8,250 rpm and is mated with a constant-mesh 6-speed gearbox transmission via a shaft drive and in 1-down and 5-up shift pattern. It has a hydraulically operated multiple-disc clutch in oil bath, a bore and stroke of 80mm and 64.3mm respectively, a 13.0:1 compression ratio, EU3 emission compliant closed-loop 3-way catalytic converter and an electronic intake pipe injection with digital engine management including a knock sensor(BMS-K+). It has a top speed of almost 266 kmph and reaches 0-100kmph mark in just 2.81 seconds with excellent fuel consumption figures.

This naked bike has got 320mm diameter dual floating disk brakes with 4-piston fixed callipers at the front and 265mm diameter single disk brake with 2-piston floating calliper at the rear. The suspension system includes a BMW Motorrad Duo lever with central spring strut at the front and a cast aluminium single-sided swing arm with BMW Motorrad Para lever and a central spring strut having a lever system with hydraulically adjustable (continuously variable) spring pre-load at handwheel and adjustable rebound damping at the rear.
