Thursday, 31 October 2024 05:43 PM The Bajaj Pulsar SS400 is expected to be priced around Rs 2.20 lakh (ex-showroom) in India, making it a competitive entry in the sports bike segment. The bike features a 373.3cc liquid-cooled engine, producing 40 HP at 8800 rpm and 35 Nm of torque at 7000 rpm. I think this pricing is quite aggressive and could attract a lot of buyers looking for a powerful yet affordable sports bike.
Monday, 14 October 2024 06:56 AM Bajaj has revealed the color options for the upcoming Pulsar SS400, which include Yellow/White, Red/White, Blue/White, and an all-Black variant. These color schemes are designed to appeal to the younger demographic and enhance the bikes sporty appearance. I believe the Red/White option will be particularly popular among Indian buyers.
Wednesday, 11 September 2024 09:45 AM The Pulsar SS400 will come equipped with advanced technology, including a 6-speed gearbox, slipper clutch, and 2-channel ABS. The bike also features tubeless tires and alloy wheels, enhancing its overall performance and safety. This combination of features makes it a solid choice for those seeking a reliable sports bike.
Friday, 09 August 2024 08:09 PM Bajaj has confirmed that the Pulsar SS400 will have a fuel tank capacity, though the exact figure is not specified yet. However, it is expected to offer a mileage of around 30 kmpl, which is decent for a bike in its class. The top speed is anticipated to be approximately 170 kmph. I think the mileage will be a key factor for many potential buyers.
Tuesday, 16 July 2024 10:49 PM The design of the Pulsar SS400 has been praised for its good looks and sporty riding position. The bike features a split tail light and a belly pan with subtle design elements, such as the 400 inscription. These design cues are expected to appeal to fans of the Pulsar series. I believe the design will be a major selling point for this bike.
Saturday, 08 June 2024 06:04 AM Bajaj is expected to launch the Pulsar SS400 with riding modes, including Road, Rain, Sport, and Off-Road. These modes will alter the throttle maps and ABS behavior, providing riders with more control and safety in different conditions. This feature is a significant upgrade and will likely be well-received by enthusiasts.
Friday, 24 May 2024 08:39 AM The Pulsar SS400 will be BS6-compliant, ensuring it meets the latest emission norms in India. This compliance is crucial for the bikes market viability and environmental impact. I think this is a positive step towards more eco-friendly motorcycles.
Tuesday, 14 May 2024 11:05 AM Bajaj has emphasized the solid build quality and efficient braking system of the Pulsar SS400. The bike features a 320mm front disc brake and a 230mm rear disc brake, along with 2-channel ABS. These features are expected to enhance the bikes safety and performance. I believe these features will be highly appreciated by riders.

Bajaj Pulsar SS Review

01 Feb, 2016 05:32 AM

Quick Review by Maxabout Team

In the last Auto Expo in 2014, Bajaj has also shocked the audience with its out of the world, 400 cc segment twins. From two different segments, the Pulsars shared the same engine. The SS400, where SS stood for 'Super Sport', is a beast in the gentlemen look. It shares its design with the RS200 but gives a 43 BHP power blow. It is expected with a 35 NM torque value and will be available in the same shades as the RS200 will be available. It also uses the same triple spark technology which is being used on the Pulsar AS and RS series.

The other one from the Auto Expo was the CS400. It shared the same 373.2 cc engine, with a difference in its body style, which matches the cruiser motorcycles. So, here the CS stands for 'Cruiser Sport'. This segment is all about a Pulsar, which is lean and muscular, with a lot more power inside than its looks reveal. It has been beautifully designed, with a simple structure and lesser curves. A totally new exhaust has been planted and the launch plans have not yet been revealed for both the 400 offerings.

About Bajaj Pulsar Brand

Bajaj Autos had a totally new ideology about the Indian motorcycle market some 15 years ago and on 24 November 2001 it was seen in the form of a new lining of motorcycles called as Bajaj Pulsar. Being a scooter based brand, Bajaj had a very tough time switching over into a new segment where the already established firms were having a very good time with their little variety of offerings. Before Pulsar, the Indian market was bent toward small engine motorcycles with no performance expectations and high mileage. Pulsar, at that time changed the traditional biking philosophy and started a new era of speed and performance.

The same spirit has been carried over by the Pulsar from last 14 years and till date; Performance and Pulsars are side by side thoughts in every mind. At the time of introduction, Pulsar's featured all the modern equipment of that time. The disc brake was a proud possession of a Pulsar owner and its muscular appeal was a dream of every teenager. Riding a Pulsar at that time was nothing less than talking to the winds and the same feel can be experienced today also. Bajaj Autos has been updating the technology from time to time and the results are crystal clear.

Bajaj has started the Pulsar with an idea of an ideal Indian performance bike with a balance of economy and sport functionality. Today the ever expanding market has many more challenges and the specificity of every segment has forced the Pulsar to change its form from a basic performance oriented machine to a specific segment competitor. The Pulsar is offered in various engine options staring from 135 cc, then 150 cc, the 180 cc, 200 cc and the favourite of all, the 220 cc. Every engine has the same Pulsar DNA; the pledge to perform remains same whether it’s the oldest one or the youngest one.

Bajaj Autos understands the need of classification of their Pulsars in such a way that everyone finds a suitable on for himself, without going through each one before purchasing. The definition of each different Pulsar lies in its name. Bajaj has coined these terms based on the segment the Pulsar belongs to and also for the purpose of its birth.

Bajaj has classified its Pulsars in every way, making it easy for us to choose what we exactly wish for. From its classic appeal to the modern day technology, Bajaj has balanced everything with its segment differentiation. Go ahead, choose yours.

Discussions and Questions Bajaj Pulsar SS

What would make the Pulsar SS400 stand out from the crowd?
31 January 2025 10:54
Bajaj is likely to concentrate on tech features that will make the SS400 stand out. The fancy TFT display will have smartphone connectivity and perhaps even built in navigation. Alongside those details, they could also take a shot at ride modes and traction control to match more expensive bikes.
Is the Bajaj Pulsar SS400 worth all the hype?
31 January 2025 10:54
It’s not going to be able to compete with the established supersports. But that's not the point. Bajaj can deliver a great bike, which does look the part and offers decent performance at an affordable price and it can be a great entry level for those who want to get into sport bikes but don’t want to break the bank.
How will the Pulsar SS400 compare against KTM's product line?
31 January 2025 10:54
I believe that Bajaj will keep the SS400 one step below RC390 in terms of performance, deliberately. Especially since they profit from the partnership with KTM, they won't be keen to cannibalize KTM sales. The SS400 should be more comfortable and practical for daily use but less track focused than the KTM.
What will the Pulsar SS400’s maintenance costs be compared to its competitors?
31 January 2025 10:46
In fact, the SS400 might be the ideal track for beginners. This will have enough power to grow into, but not enough power that it is unmanageable. Crash parts are less expensive than a high end sport bike and if you crash, you have a lot less to lose.
When it comes to the Bajaj Pulsar SS400, is all the hype around it justified?
31 January 2025 10:46
Overhyped, if you ask me. Bajaj is no expert when it comes to high performance machines, but commuter bikes. Rather than that, I would have preferred going for a proven bike like the KTM RC 390 or even saving up for a proper Japanese supersport.
