Ex Showroom Price vs On Road Price | Ex-Showroom Price is the Manufacturing Cost of the vehicle + Dealer/Seller Profit + GST (Goods and Service Tax) + Transportation Charges (from the manufacturing plant to the dealership). On the other hand, the On-Road Price is the actual cost you pay to the dealership to make the vehicle legal to run on the roads. It includes Ex-Showroom Price in your city + RTO Charges (Vehicle Registration) + One Time Road Tax + Insurance Charges. The On-Road Price also includes some optional things like if you opt for Genuine Accessories and Extended Warranty while buying a vehicle. Please note that the On-Road Price varies a lot across different states in India due to different percentage for the State Registration Charges. |
Bajaj Platina 100 Review
Detailed Review by Maxabout Team
Overview
Bajaj Platina is a 100cc motorcycle produced by Bajaj Auto in 2006. The Bajaj Platina 100 ES variants will be available in the Indian market in 2024. It is an improved version of the Kick Start or KS model, which debuted the previous year.
2024 Bajaj Platina 100 is an entry-level commuter motorcycle designed specifically for rural markets. They priced it higher than the most affordable Bajaj models, the CT100 and CT110. This bike is available with both kick-start and an electric start. The Pune-based manufacturer has outfitted the bike with interesting features to make it more practical. One of the best features of this bike is its fuel-efficient engine. It also has a comfortable suspension setup and a powerful engine that speeds up quickly off the line.
If you get your hands on a Bajaj Platina 100 BS6, you will undoubtedly fall in love with it for a variety of other reasons. For starters, it provides unprecedented comfort. So you don't have to worry about exhaustion no matter how long you ride. It is also available in a variety of colours.
Bajaj Platina 100 Design and Style
2024 Platina 100 model may appear to be very similar to the company's earlier Platina models, but significant changes have been made to improve it. This model is available in a variety of colours, including cocktail wine red, black silver, ebony black with gold decals, ebony black with blue decals, and ebony black with red decals. It has the standard Halogen headlamps, but with LED DRLs that are quite elegant and visible even in low light. The bike wiser has been changed, with a larger and heavier front end.
Another distinguishing feature of this Bajaj Platina model is the newly installed reflectors, which, when combined with the specially designed rearview mirrors, give the bike a luxurious appearance. The 17-inch silver alloy wheels complement the chrome handlebar and add to the quality appearance. It has an analogue instrument cluster, a black pillion grab rail, halogen tail lamps, a rear fender with a reflector, and a chrome guarded exhaust. Even the tank guard on the bike adds to the dynamic engineering of the bike while protecting the gasoline tank.
Bajaj Platina 100 Engine and Gearbox
A 102cc BS6 gasoline engine produces 7.9 HP at 7,500 rpm and 8.34 Nm at 5,500 rpm in the Platina 100. This model has an 11-litre gasoline tank and a 2-litre reserve fuel capacity. The system is air-cooled, with a chain drive four-speed manual transmission. The shifters on all four wheels have been lowered. The powerful DTS-I engine delivers improved mileage and performance. It gets better mileage than other bikes because it uses two spark plugs to alternately ignite the air-fuel mixture, which widens the flame and burns the gasoline instantly. It has a wet multi-plate clutch, which allows the clutch plate to cool because of the presence of engine oil, allowing it to withstand more abuse. This clutch is also quieter at idle, which makes it ideal for stop-and-go traffic.
Bajaj Platina 100 Suspension, Brakes and Tyres
A telescopic front suspension keeps the spring from moving around unnecessarily, resulting in a smooth ride even on rough terrain. It also has a dual-tone front fender, front and rear drum brakes, a 2.75x17, 41p tube-type front tyre, a 3.00x17,50p tube-type rear tyre, and tyre sizes of 80/100-17 46p. It has a CBS (combined braking system) that connects the front and rear brakes, allowing it to be more efficient than the competition.
Tubeless tyres have a pressure range of 25-32 psi. The front suspension is 135mm hydraulic telescopic, with a Nitrox Gas Canister, and the rear suspension is 110mm spring on spring (SOS). These Nitrox Gas Canisters, also known as "Gas-Filled Shock Absorbers," prevent foaming of hydraulic oil inside the damper because of heavy use or dampening action, ensuring consistent suspension performance.

FAQs
-
Is the Bajaj Platina 100 ES's reputation for reliability any different now?
29 January 2025 09:37Noticed definitely definitely definitely a drop in quality. My old one never did, but my new Platina has had electrical issues. It looks like Bajaj is cutting corners.
-
Is the Bajaj Platina 100 ES reliability matched by its fundamental features and style?
29 January 2025 09:37For those wanting an inexpensive and low maintenance model, the Platina's basic design is perfect for both rural areas and people living in rural areas. Not everyone wants fancy features, and not everyone needs them.
-
Is the comfort tech of the Bajaj Platina 100 ES really that effective or just some marketing hype?
29 January 2025 09:37The ComforTec actually works! I can ride over pretty bad roads without being beat up. It’s definitely not luxury car comfort, but it’s much better than any other bikes I’ve ridden at this price.
-
Do some owners claim the Bajaj Platina 100 ES is really the 'king of mileage'?
29 January 2025 09:37I've had this Platina for 2 years now and I'm always getting around 80-85 kmpl in the city. This isn't the 90+ that Bajaj claims but it's still pretty damn good. The only thing you need to do is ride sensibly and take care of regular maintenance.
-
So, why does the Bajaj Platina 100 ES seem to divide owners right down the middle?
29 January 2025 09:37Bajaj has an inconsistent quality control, and that’s why it has a polarizing reputation. There are some bikes that are rock solid reliable, others are lemons from day one. It's like a lottery.
-
What are the reasons that some Bajaj Platina 100 owners complain of rapid brake shoes wear and bad braking performance?
29 January 2025 09:29This issue is overblown. I’m still on my original brake shoes at 40,000km. It’s not about riding the brakes, it’s about proper adjustment.
-
Can the Bajaj Platina 100's build quality be justified by its budget friendly price or is it just ‘you get what you pay for’?
29 January 2025 09:29The Platina definitely feels less sturdy, coming from a Hero Splendor. It’s also significantly cheaper, so I can’t complain too much.
-
What makes the Bajaj Platina 100 appear to have more engine problems than other 100cc bikes?
29 January 2025 09:29After just 7 months my Platina started showing black smoke. The service center couldn't really fix it. I believe Bajaj had to compromise on quality to keep the price low.
-
But is the comfort on the Bajaj Platina 100 really as good as Bajaj claims it to be with their "ComforTec" technology?
29 January 2025 09:29It's all relative. The Platina feels like a cloud coming from a motorcycle with a stiffer setup. At the end of the day, it's still a budget commuter.
-
Do owners of the Bajaj Platina 100 really have the king of mileage?
29 January 2025 09:29I’ve been riding Platina for 2 years now and get 75-80 kmpl in city traffic consistently. It’s not the 90 kmpl that Bajaj advertises, but it’s not bad at all.

Good Bike
I bought this bike from 1 month ago. It's mileage is good. It's suspension is very nice. It's seat is soft but it is narrow for rider. It's sitting position is not good as compare to TVS star city plus and Honda CB Shine. Old Platina kick start bike is good for sitting position.
Best Features: Smooth handling
Pros: Pickup is good
Cons: Sitting position for rider is very bad
