USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Aprilia STX 150, although spotted in India, does not seem to be a viable option for the Indian market, especially considering Aprilias brand image. The bikes design, while decent, does not stand out in the crowded 150cc segment and lacks the aspirational value that Aprilia is known for. The dealer response to the bike was not positive, indicating that it may not resonate well with Indian buyers. Given Aprilias success with their premium scooter range and the anticipation around models like the RS150, it would be wiser for Piaggio to focus on maintaining the brands premium image rather than introducing a more mundane commuter bike.
Price
The Aprilia STX 150 has not been officially launched in India, and therefore, there is no official pricing available. However, if we were to speculate based on its specifications and the market it is sold in elsewhere, the ex-showroom price could potentially be around 1.2 to 1.5 lakh. On-road prices would likely add another 20,000 to 30,000, depending on the state and local taxes. Given the bikes features and the competition in the 150cc segment, this pricing would place it in a challenging position, as buyers might opt for more feature-rich or brand-preferred options.
Latest Updates
Wednesday, 23 January 2019 01:14 PM The Aprilia STX 150, an entry-level 150cc commuter motorcycle, was showcased at a dealer meet in Goa, India, to gauge dealer response. The bike is powered by a 149 cc single cylinder engine that produces 14 bhp of power, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. This move was seen as a test to determine market interest. I believe this was a smart move by Aprilia to assess the market before making any launch decisions.
Saturday, 19 January 2019 04:03 PM Aprilias decision to showcase the STX 150 in India but not launch it has raised questions about their market strategy. The bikes performance and design were well-received by dealers, but the company seems to be focusing on other models. I believe this decision might be part of a broader strategy to prioritize other segments or models.
Thursday, 17 January 2019 05:38 PM Aprilia showcased the STX 150 naked motorcycle to dealers in India for the first time, sparking speculation about a potential launch. However, it was later confirmed that the launch in India is unlikely. The bikes design and features were well-received, but market conditions may not be favorable. I think the decision not to launch is prudent given the competitive Indian market.
Thursday, 17 January 2019 07:27 PM The Aprilia STX 150 was spotted in India, specifically in Goa, where it was presented to dealers. Despite the interest, Aprilia indicated that a launch in India is not on the cards. The bikes specs, including its 149 cc engine and 5-speed transmission, were highlighted during the showcase. I believe this bike could have been a strong contender if launched, but perhaps the timing wasnt right.
Mileage
Monday, 18 November 2024 10:36 PM The mileage of the Aprilia STX 150, if it were to be launched in India, would likely be a crucial factor for potential buyers. With its 149cc air-cooled engine, the bike is expected to deliver a mileage similar to other 150cc commuters in the market. Real-world mileage could range between 40 to 50 kmpl, depending on riding conditions and maintenance. However, without official data or real-world testing in Indian conditions, this is speculative. For a commuter bike, fuel efficiency is key, and the STX 150 would need to compete with other fuel-efficient options in the segment. Quick Review by Maxabout Team

Showcased at Piaggio India annual dealer’s meet, the Aprilia STX 150 is a naked, entry-level motorcycle has been designed as the asphalt specialist, a commuter on the weekdays while a beast on the weekends. Tailored to offer optimum performance and a design language worth applauding, the daily commuter does promise smart figures. Being already on sale in Singapore and New Zealand, the commuter is available in three traditional colors- black, white and red. The chiselled fuel tank does justice to its demeanour while the clip on handlebars adds sportiness to the bike’s character. The Aprilia STX 150 gets a wider seat for additional comfort and the sharp headlamps add to its sporty look. The knee recesses on the fuel tank offer additional control and efficient braking while on the corners.

The bike exhibits a strongly assembled framework while promises lower fuel consumption. Coming to the instrument console, the Aprilia STX 150 gets an analogue-digital panel with all the necessary information. The wheelbase of 1330 mm is powerful to handle the bike well on speeding corners while getting a fuel capacity of 18 litres. The suspension duties are handled by a hydraulic fork in the front while the rear gets a  twin shock with adjustable spring preload. The Aprilia STX 150 gets 240mm single disc in the front and 104mm rear drum brake. The commuter bike will compete in the Indian market with the likes of Suzuki Gixxer, Bajaj Pulsar 150 and Yamaha FZ.
