Detailed Review by Maxabout Team

Overview

Aprilia RSV4 Factory is an advanced version of the standard RSV4, an acclaimed super bike from Aprilia. This bike introduces you to the new world of racing bikes. Let’s try to know more about this bike.

Design and Style

Visually, this bike is not much different than its younger sibling RSV4. The styling cues and color schemes resemble a lot to the standard variant of this bike. The bike features its characteristic three headlights at its front which gives it the true essence of a sports bike. The neatly designed cowl and transparent visor gels well with its front styling. The black colored rear view mirrors are integrated with clear lens indicators which further enhance the visual appearance of this bike. These mirrors are mounted on its front cowl and give it a sporty look when seen from the front. The multi-spoke design of alloy wheels and big disc plates complements the racing nature of this bike. The broad front tyre and fender gives macho look to RSV4 Factory. The stylish side fairing and engine cowl makes this bike look aerodynamic. The fatty fuel tank of this bike simply can’t be ignored. The tail designing of RSV4 is very sharp and gives it a naked look at the back. It has an elongated rear cowl which features a stylish LED tail light at the back. Its combined twin mufflers add visual bulk to RSV4 Factory. The tall positioned rear cowl also gives way to an extended fender which carries the set of side indicators and number plate. This extended fender along with its wide rear tyre looks flashy at the back.

Instrument Console

The bike remains unchanged in this department. The orange colored LCD can also be seen in this bike which displays its displays its digital speedometer, odometer, lap timer, 2-trip meter and fuel gauge. The left circular dial houses its Tachometer. Aprilia has also placed all essential LED indicators in this bike. The bike also features switch for its adjustable ABS.

Engine and Gearbox

Aprilia has placed a V4 cylinder, 4-stroke 999.6cc engine in RSV4 Factory similar to its younger sibling. This liquid-cooled engine produces a power output of 180 bhp at 12250 rpm. The maximum torque production of this 16 valves engine is of 115 Nm which arrives at 10000 rpm. This engine is mated with a six-speed manual gearbox with one gear down and five gears up-shift pattern.

Acceleration and Performance

This bike is a speed enthusiast and it proves to be one of the fastest bikes available in the market. The bike reaches o-100km/hr in less than 3.5 seconds. The superb instant throttle reaction is one of the key characteristics of this bike. The bike picks up easily in any gear and makes your rides enjoyable. It can reach the speed of 250km/hr and shows high level of refinement. The engine never complains when rev hard and truly surprises you with its linear power delivery. The six-speed gearbox also complements the functioning of this engine. Aprilia has well-spaced the gear ratios which help this engine to perform at its best. This high performance engine is more dependent on its power rather than its torque. The power arrives at 12500rpm which makes its mid and high range better than other rivals. Aprilia has also blessed this bike with Aprilia Performance Ride Control, a futuristic technology which makes it an exclusive racing bike.

Mileage

The light weight carbon parts contribute to the fuel economy of this bike. It may return you a fuel economy of around 10km/ltr.

Comfort While Driving

The aerodynamic design of this bike helps you to get a sporty yet comfortable riding posture. The rider has to bend slightly forward to reach its clips on handlebar with feet resting on its rear set, lightweight aluminium foot pegs. This vibration less handle bar also offers firm palm grip and help your elbows to fold down in a relaxed and aerodynamic position. The bike has a full size rider seat which feels quite comfortable on long journeys. The road visibility is also quite clear but you will have to make an effort to look at its low positioned, two way adjustable instrument panel.

Storage Space and Safety Features

The bike offers no storage space. Its powerful headlight gives you bright vision of roads at night and confirms your safety while you drive this bike at high speeds.

Suspension and Brakes

RSV4 Factory comes fitted with Ohlins racing up-side down front inverted forks of 43mm. It has a hydraulic mono shock absorber at the back with double braced aluminium swing arm. The bike is equipped with disc brakes on its both wheels and it has four piston callipers at its front and two piston callipers at the back. The dual front disc brakes are of 320mm while its single rear disc brake is of 220mm. RSV4 Factory also features an adjustable ABS.

Ride and Handling

RSV4 Factory has a wheelbase of 1420mm which brings stability to this bike at high speeds. The bike also has a low ground clearance of 130mm which improves the aerodynamics of this fast machine. The racing suspension and braking system also holds this bike firmly and keeps it grounded and under control on racing tracks at high speeds. Its electronic steering makes it easy for you to operate this bike with full confidence. Turning or steering this bike at slow speeds is not that convenient though. RSV4 Factory has some exclusive features like traction control system with 8 settings, wheelie control and launch control which further enhance the ride and handling of this bike.

Tyre Size, Shades and Variants

The front and rear tyre size of this bike is 120/70 R17 and 200/55 R17 respectively. The one variant this bike is available in one color.

Verdict

Aprilia RSV4 Factory may cost you around INR 17.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi (approx., may vary)). With features like traction control and wheelie control, this bike is far advanced than any other racing bike. It’s a futuristic bike which will prove to be one of the finest super bikes available worldwide.
