Yamaha Ray Precious Edition Review
Yamaha is a noteworthy and fairly accomplished two-wheeler manufacturing company which has proved its worth with its fast, unique and sturdy bikes as well as scooters. In September 2012, Yamaha introduced Ray scooter in India to target the female customers. Now recently, in September 2013, Yamaha once again launched a special limited edition of Ray to make some profit in the festive season of India.
Yamaha Ray Precious Edition is fully decorated in a fabulous Black and White paint job, stylish decals with a lot of pink elements, a large bright headlamp cluster on the front apron with a 'Precious Edition' sticker above it, dual-toned body panels all around, curved front panels to protect the riders legs from dirt, a comfortable and nicely designed seat which ends practically in a hip-support-cum-grab-rail, storage compartments at the front, 10-inch steel wheels, movable rear fender, an under seat storage space of 15.5 litres, a 'Ray Cygnus' badging on the rear panel and a stylish tail lamp cluster. The illuminated instrument panel consists of an analogue fuel gauge and an analogue speedometer and low fuel, low oil and low battery indicators. It has self as well as kick-start. This beautiful scooter has a length of 1835mm, width of 675mm and height of 1075mm as its dimension and has a large wheelbase of 1270mm for a stable and comfortable ride. It has a good ground clearance of 128mm and a weight of 104kgs. It has a fuel tank capacity of 5 litres which provides it with a range of about 250kms.
Engine, Brakes and Suspension
Yamaha Ray Precious Edition is powered by a 113cc, single cylinder, 2-valve, 4-stroke, Air-cooled, SOHC based engine with a maximum power of 7 bhp at 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 8.1 Nm at 5500 rpm with an automatic gearbox, dry centrifugal clutch, carburettor, Underbone type chassis and a bore and stroke of 50mm and 57.8mm respectively. It gives a top speed of around 85kmph and reaches 0-60kmph mark in 12 seconds with the mileage of 40 kmpl in the cities and 62 kmpl on the highways. Yamaha Ray Precious Edition has 130mm drum brakes at both the front and rear wheels. The suspension system is a Telescopic Shock Absorbers at front and Unit Swing at rear. The seat height is 760mm and is able to provide a very comfortable seating.
