Yamaha Ray Z UBS Review
Quick Review by Maxabout Team
Yamaha Ray Z is a scooter launched by Yamaha after the success of Ray which was, as Yamaha said, a ladies-only scooter. So, Yamaha launched this scooter especially for male fans as it has got more sporty looks. The exterior of this scooter is not very much changed from original Ray but has added certain modifications which will attract male fans. It has kick start as well as self-start and fuel tank capacity of 5 litres. It also has an optional chequered pattern on the lower end of the rear seat to give a funky look for male drivers. It also got new and stylish visors and decals. It comes equipped with a pass switch, clock and a clip on handle bars.
The body of this scooter has sharp and aggressive lines to give it a macho look with stylish headlight and clear lens indicators. It has all analogue instrument cluster with low oil, fuel and battery indicators and speedometer. It has a 12V and 35W Halogen headlamp and a 12V and 5Ah battery. Yamaha Ray Z has a 113cc, Air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve, single cylinder petrol engine with BLUE CORE technologywhich generates a maximum power of 7 bhp at 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 8.1 Nm at 5500 rpm and has an automatic transmission. It has a bore of 50mm and 57.8mm of stroke. It reaches 0-60kmph mark in 12 seconds and has a top speed of 85 kmph. It has a wheelbase of 1270mm, 128mm of ground clearance and 104 kgs of kerb weight.
Yamaha Ray Z has 10-inch steel wheels. It has 130mm of drum brakes at front and at rear. It gives a mileage of 40-45 kmpl in the cities and 50-55 kmpl on the highways. It has telescopic front and unit swing rear suspension. Yamaha Ray Z has a length of 1835mm, 675mm of width and 1090mm of height as its dimension. It is available in only one variant. It has three beautiful shades which are Black Thunder, Regal Red and Pristine White. Ray Z comes with a warranty of 2 years or 24,000 kms whatever comes earlier. Overall, this scooter is a good combination of style, comfort, performance and price but has some shortcomings like the non-availability of disk brakes at front and availability of better option scooters at the same price in market.

User Reviews for Yamaha Ray
Best option to buy
Max speed is 89km per hour I personally took it to that speed, it had been 4 months since I bought still people in market praise it, it had got the best finishing with wings on the handle which give it a racing look.
Best Features: Speed and look
Pros: got the best finishing with wings on the handle
Cons: Milage is just 25kmpl
Yamaha Ray ZR is super stylish
It gives a mileage of 35-40 kmpl. I think it will improve with my first service.
Best Features: Mileage, Engine
Pros: Style
Cons: No complaints
Yamaha Ray ZR
I am frustrated from its mileage. Is there any replacement policy?
Best Features: pick up, nice looks and light weight!
Pros: smooth engine, enough space
Cons: 25 kmpl of mileage only
Yamaha Ray - Overall Unsatisfactory
This bike is sleek and easy to handle, especially for short people. Center stand is very hard to use. The electric start of the bike constantly has starting trouble and needs to be fixed every time. The bike has good looks and pocket friendly maintenance cost except the electric start service of course.

Fun to Ride
Yamaha Ray is a well-balanced scooter with excellent mileage and sharp handling. The triangular instrument cluster uses clear lens for amazing visibility, be it day or night. Seat comfort is spot on for both pillion and rider and the seat fabric is also of good quality. Seat height is low so that anybody can get their feet down comfortably. If you are under 5 feet tall, you can still handle this scooty well. Surprisingly my friend who is 5' 11” use this scooter for short runs but for long rides it is not comfortable. Being lightweight and compact automatically improves the fuel efficiency and one can expect best in class figures around the 45 km mark. The tail lamp is attractive and quite modern looking. The build quality is excellent and everything seems well put together. The most important thing is that it doesn't look feminine at all and can be ridden by everyone. It is quite lightweight and can be handled by any person easily whether he or she is young or old. The drawback is that it has a weak horn which sometimes create problem in crowded areas. The footrest are not proper which is another negative point of this scooter.
Best Features: Lightweight & Smooth Engine
Pros: Brakes, build quality, light weight, smooth engine, excellent handling, great styling
Cons: Low horn, Improper footrest
Yamaha Ray Z UBS Discussion
I own Ray Z from Feb 2014, after 1st Servicing getting 46 kmpl, and it has awesome control, you can go down the speed from 80kmph to 40kmph in just 20 Sec and increase the speed from 0 to 60kmph in 20-30 sec by accelarator without touching brakes. The brakes are also nice & soft and you find it very easy to control. In high speed like 80kmph, the bike does not vibrate and you will feel smooth ride. I really feel the power of bike in scooter range.
power is low pickup is not good worst milage
