Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car manufacturer, achieved remarkable sales figures in February 2024, with a total of 1,97,471 units sold. Mini Segment
The Mini segment, consisting of models like Alto and S-Presso, witnessed a steady performance with 14,782 units sold last month. While this number is lower than the 21,875 units sold in February 2023, it marks an improvement from the 2,557 units sold in December 2023. However, there was a slight decline in sales compared to January 2024, where 15,849 units were sold. In the fiscal year 2023-24, Maruti sold 1,30,265 units in the Mini segment, a decrease from 2,21,329 units in the previous fiscal year.
Compact Segment
The Compact segment, which includes popular models like Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, and Swift, accounted for 71,627 units sold in February 2024. This number has decreased from 79,898 units sold in the same period last year. In the fiscal year 2023-24, Maruti sold 7,58,171 units of Compact cars, down from 7,91,197 units in the previous fiscal year.
Mid-Size Segment
Sales in the mid-size segment, primarily driven by the Ciaz sedan, witnessed a decline with 481 units sold in February 2024, compared to 792 units in February 2023. In the fiscal year 2023-24, Maruti sold 9,747 units of the Ciaz, down from 13,310 units in the previous fiscal year.
Utility Vehicles and Vans
The Utility Vehicles segment, which includes models like Brezza, Ertiga, and S-Cross, saw a significant in sales, with 61,234 units sold in February 2024, up from 33,550 units in the same period last year. The Van segment, represented by the Eeco, also witnessed growth with 12,147 units sold, up from 11,352 units last year.
Total Sales Performance
Combining the sales figures from Mini, Compact, Mid-Size, Utility Vehicles, and Van segments, Maruti sold a total of 1,60,271 units in February 2024, up from 1,47,467 units in February 2023. The total domestic sales (PV+LCV+OEM) for Maruti stood at 1,68,544 units, showing a year-on-year growth compared to last year's 1,55,114 units.
Exports and Total Sales
Maruti's exports also showed growth, with 28,927 units shipped in February 2024, compared to 17,207 units shipped in the same period last year. The total sales (Total Domestic + Exports) for February 2024 stood at 1,97,471 units, indicating a year-on-year growth over February 2023's 1,72,321 units. In the fiscal year 2023-24, Maruti sold a total of 19,48,127 units, surpassing the 17,96,093 units sold in the previous fiscal year.
