The Fronx Turbo, known for its drivability, is powered by a 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet petrol engine, delivering 99bhp and 147Nm of torque. It is available with either a six-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission, the latter of which we tested. Despite its power, the claimed mileage for all variants stands at an impressive 21.5kmpl.
City Mileage Performance
In urban conditions, the Fronx's lightweight design and good power-to-weight ratio contribute to its efficiency. Our test showed that the vehicle traveled 78.4km in the city while consuming 5.5 litres of petrol, resulting in a real-world city mileage of 14.3kmpl. This figure is close to the tachometer-indicated efficiency of 15.2kmpl. The Fronx also features an automatic fuel start-stop function that stops the engine at traffic signals when in neutral, aiding in fuel conservation.
Highway Mileage Efficiency
On the highway, the Fronx demonstrated its ability to cruise comfortably at higher gears and low revs. Covering a distance of 80.4km, it consumed 4.2 litres of fuel, indicating a highway mileage of 19.1kmpl. The instrument cluster displayed a slightly higher efficiency of 21.6kmpl at the end of the test.
Overall Mileage and Driving Range
Combining the city and highway mileage, the Fronx Turbo offers a real-world mileage of 15.5kmpl. With a 37-litre fuel tank, this translates to a driving range of approximately 572km, which is quite satisfactory for a crossover in its class.
