Maruti Suzuki Sets Record with 3 Crore Cumulative Production Milestone

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, a leading automobile manufacturer in India, has achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing the cumulative production mark of over 3 crore (30 million) units. This significant achievement spans across the company's manufacturing facilities in Gurugram, Manesar (Haryana), and Hansalpur (Gujarat).

Record-Breaking Achievement

Maruti Suzuki reached this milestone in a record time of 40 years and 4 months since the start of production in December 1983. This makes it the fastest among all Suzuki production bases to achieve this feat. The cumulative production includes over 2.68 crore vehicles from the Haryana-based facilities and over 32 lakh vehicles from Suzuki Motor Gujarat, a wholly owned subsidiary of Maruti Suzuki India Limited.

Developing Models

Several iconic models have contributed to this milestone, including:

  • Maruti 800: Over 29 lakh units, revolutionizing mobility in India.
  • Alto: 50.59 lakh units, including Alto 800 and Alto K10 variants.
  • Swift: 31.93 lakh units, a popular choice among Indian consumers.
  • Wagon R: 31.84 lakh units, known for its spacious interior and reliability.
  • Dzire: 28.61 lakh units, a preferred sedan for Indian families.
  • Omni: 20.22 lakh units, serving as a versatile vehicle for both personal and commercial use.
  • Baleno: 19.53 lakh units, a premium hatchback with a strong presence.
  • Eeco: 11.95 lakh units, catering to the needs of both families and businesses.
  • Brezza: 11.66 lakh units, a compact SUV with a strong market presence.
  • Ertiga: 11.04 lakh units, a popular choice for a family MPV.

Leadership and Future Plans

Maruti Suzuki has maintained its leadership position in the domestic market since its inception. The company credits its success to relevant products and technologies, an extensive sales and service network, and a robust supplier ecosystem. Maruti Suzuki began exporting vehicles in 1987 and currently accounts for nearly 40 percent of total vehicle exports from India.

Looking ahead, Maruti Suzuki is committed to the 'Make in India' initiative and plans to increase its annual production capacity to 4 million units by FY 2030-31. This includes the establishment of two new greenfield manufacturing plants in Kharkhoda-Haryana and Gujarat, each with a capacity of 10 lakh units. The company also aims to expand its model range from 18 to 28 by FY 2030-31.
