Maruti NEXA S-Cross
General information and overview
The Maruti NEXA S-Cross 2025 is a premium compact crossover that combines a bold exterior design with a spacious, tech-rich interior. It features a mild-hybrid 1.5-litre petrol engine that balances power and fuel efficiency, partnered with a smooth automatic or manual transmission option. Inside, the vehicle boasts advanced connectivity options such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a modern touchscreen infotainment system. Safety is well-catered for with six airbags, ABS with EBD, and driver assistance features including lane assist and collision mitigation. The ride quality is improved with a refined suspension that handles urban bumps and highways comfortably, making it suitable for family use and long drives. Maruti’s widespread service and affordable spares add to the vehicle’s appeal. Positioned in the mid-size crossover segment, the S-Cross appeals to buyers looking for practicality, comfort, safety, and efficient running costs in a modern SUV.
The Maruti S-Cross represents Suzuki's thoughtful approach to the compact crossover segment, and I regard it as a vehicle that truly understands what Indian families need from their daily transportation. It sits between traditional hatchbacks and full-fledged SUVs, offering the commanding driving position and space of the latter with the efficiency and maneuverability of the former. The exterior design feels modern and purposeful with an upright stance that works well in our traffic conditions, while the interior impresses with quality materials, intuitive controls, and practical storage solutions that everyday driving demands. Under the hood sits either a refined 1.6-litre diesel or 1.3-litre petrol engine, both mated to either manual or automatic transmissions depending on the variant. The 360-degree camera and comprehensive safety suite including multiple airbags, ABS, and electronic stability control ensure that occupants are well-protected. What genuinely resonates with me is how the S-Cross drives – it's composed on highways, nimble in city traffic, and the steering offers genuine feedback that modern crossovers often lack. With excellent visibility from the driver's seat and responsive brakes that never feel harsh, the S-Cross makes every journey feel more controlled and composed than competitors in its price bracket.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Maruti NEXA S-Cross stands out as a refined premium compact crossover in the Indian market, balancing style, comfort, and fuel efficiency effectively. It offers a confident driving experience with its well-tuned suspension that handles Indian road conditions smoothly while maintaining stability at speeds. The cabin feels spacious and premium with modern tech, including an updated infotainment system and multiple safety features like six airbags and advanced driver assists. While it may lack the sporty punch of turbocharged rivals, its mild-hybrid powertrain delivers practical and reliable performance. The S-Cross excels in offering value as it blends premium features with Maruti Suzuki’s reputed after-sales support and good ride comfort. It suits families and urban users seeking a sensible yet stylish SUV without a hefty price tag. Its enhanced fuel efficiency and overall practicality make it a compelling choice in the competitive segment of mid-size crossovers.
The Maruti S-Cross stands out as one of the most well-rounded compact crossovers available in India today, and I find it particularly compelling for families seeking practicality without compromising on driving dynamics. What impresses me most is how Suzuki has managed to deliver a vehicle that doesn't feel like a compromise in any single area – the driving experience is genuinely engaging with responsive steering and good high-speed stability, the interior is tech-filled and comfortable for long journeys, and the build quality reflects the premium positioning under Maruti's NEXA brand. The punchy 1.6-litre diesel engine is unique in its segment and delivers engaging performance while maintaining efficiency. However, I must note that the S-Cross has been discontinued in India and replaced by the Grand Vitara, which means finding a new unit may prove challenging. For those who can locate one, the exceptional value proposition, low maintenance costs, and strong reliability record make it a worthy consideration. The AllGrip AWD system, though rarely utilized in Indian driving conditions, adds genuine off-road capability that few competitors can match at this price point. My overall assessment is that this is a vehicle that rewards the buyer who values substance over showiness.
Recent news and announcements
The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross 2024 is expected to launch by April 2026, with tentative prices ranging between Rs. 10.00 lakh and Rs. 15.00 lakh. It will come with 1.4L mild-hybrid engine options and feature a 360-degree surround view camera, blind spot sensors, and other safety and tech features. I believe this upcoming model will be a strong contender in the C1-segment SUV market.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross 2024, although not launched in India, is expected to be available in other markets with a full hybrid system, offering silent EV mode and improved fuel economy. The car features a 115 horsepower engine, all-wheel drive, and a 360-degree surround view camera. I believe this hybrid system will be a game-changer for those looking for both economy and performance.
Maruti Suzuki has discontinued the S-Cross in India and replaced it with the Grand Vitara. The S-Cross was priced between Rs 8.95 lakh and Rs 12.92 lakh (ex-showroom) at the time of its discontinuation. It was offered in four trims: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. I think this move will help Maruti Suzuki focus on more competitive models in the market.
The next-gen Suzuki SX4 S-Cross was spotted sans camouflage ahead of its official debut in European markets. The new-gen model was set to be revealed on November 25, 2021, and featured significant design and possibly technological upgrades. I believe this new generation will bring the S-Cross up to date with current market standards.
The 2018 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross was updated with new features, including rear parking sensors, speed alert system, and a passenger seatbelt reminder. Prices started at Rs. 8.85 lakh for the Sigma variant and went up to Rs. 11.45 lakh for the top-of-the-line Alpha variant. I think these safety features were a welcome addition to the S-Cross.
Pricing details and changes
In India, the Maruti NEXA S-Cross 2025 starts at approximately ₹12.75 lakh ex-showroom and can go up to around ₹17.50 lakh depending on the variant and optional features. On-road prices, including taxes, insurance, and registration, will typically range from ₹14 lakh to ₹19 lakh across major cities, influenced by local levies and insurance choices. This pricing places it competitively against rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos but often at a more attractive value proposition given Maruti’s footprint and service network. For buyers, the S-Cross offers a premium SUV experience without the steep depreciation or expensive maintenance typical to foreign brands. Its pricing strategy is sensible, making it accessible for middle-upper segment buyers aiming for a reliable crossover with advanced features and a comfortable driving experience.
The Maruti S-Cross, available through Suzuki's premium NEXA dealership network, represented excellent value in its segment with ex-showroom prices ranging across different trims and variants. The on-road pricing would typically add registration, insurance, and dealer charges to the ex-showroom figure, often pushing the total cost higher depending on your state's tax structure and insurance premium. From an expert perspective, what made the S-Cross particularly attractive was the value-for-money proposition it offered – the pricing was competitive against rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster while delivering features and performance that often felt more premium than the price tag suggested. The diesel variant commanded a premium over petrol options, but the efficiency gains and torque delivery made it worth the investment for buyers planning higher annual mileage. I found that the depreciation curve on the S-Cross remained relatively favorable compared to other vehicles in this category, which is an important consideration for long-term ownership costs. Since the model is now discontinued, any remaining stock would likely be available at negotiated prices, potentially offering significant savings for buyers seeking a last opportunity to own this capable crossover before it exits the market entirely.
Fuel efficiency information
The S-Cross offers an impressive mileage around 20-22 km/l with its mild-hybrid petrol powertrain under typical Indian driving conditions. This delivers an excellent balance between performance and running costs, making it ideal for buyers concerned about fuel economy. The refined engine and hybrid assistance keep fuel expenses low, reducing the total cost of ownership over long periods.
I've observed that the S-Cross diesel delivers impressive real-world efficiency figures around 15-16 km/l in mixed driving conditions, while the petrol variant achieves approximately 12-14 km/l depending on driving habits and terrain. For buyers concerned with running costs, the diesel powertrain makes strong economic sense if you cover substantial annual mileage, as the fuel savings offset the higher purchase price within 2-3 years. The mild-hybrid technology in certain variants further enhances efficiency without sacrificing performance, making it an intelligent choice for cost-conscious owners. Suzuki's engineering ensures the S-Cross remains relatively frugal without requiring compromises in driveability or comfort that plague some economy-focused vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki introduced the S-Cross back in September 2015 with the start of its new venture, the NEXA premium dealership. Since then, it has gone through two major updates, and the most recent was the launch of a new facelift model in August 2020, when the carmaker discontinued the diesel engine owing to the dwindling demand and implementation of BS6 norms and only offered the ongoing petrol engine. However, there is fierce competition in the SUV segment in the country these days, but the S-Cross has managed to maintain its own space. Let’s discuss in detail all its features and specifications.
Introduction
Maruti Suzuki introduced the S-Cross back in September 2015 with the start of its new venture, the NEXA premium dealership. Since then, it has gone through two major updates, and the most recent was the launch of a new facelift model in August 2020, when the carmaker discontinued the diesel engine owing to the dwindling demand and implementation of BS6 norms and only offered the ongoing petrol engine. However, there is fierce competition in the SUV segment in the country these days, but the S-Cross has managed to maintain its own space. Let’s discuss in detail all its features and specifications.
Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Design and Style
2023 Maruti Nexa S-Cross has an impressive design language. The enormous vertical 10-slat chrome grille and sculpted bonnet look majestic, and the two LED projector headlights contribute to the overall appearance and get LED DRLs as well. The S-Cross is marketed as a "crossover SUV," so it comes with the indispensable plastic cladding all around. Under the headlight cluster, LED fog lamps are placed on the corners of the air dam.
In the side profile, 16-inch alloy wheels give the car a noticeable appearance, while in the rear, a sufficient amount of chrome is used and the design is quite simplistic. Combined taillights and smart hybrid badging are the only notable elements. In terms of the body dimensions of the car, it has an overall length of 4300mm, an overall width of 1785mm, an overall height (with roof rails) of 1595mm, and a wheelbase of 2600mm.
Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Engine and Gearbox
Powering the new S-Cross is a 1.5-litre, 1462cc, K15B Smart Hybrid petrol engine which is capable of churning out 103 HP of power at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of max torque at 4,400 rpm and is combined with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.
Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Interior, Instrument Cluster & Boot Space
When you step inside, you'll notice that the Maruti Nexa S-Cross has a premium build quality and elegance, as well as a comfortable cabin. There is soft-touch material used on the dashboard, and chrome accents are used to enhance the blacked-out interior’s appearance. The front and rear seats are comfortable enough, with ample headroom, knee room, and thigh support.
As for practicality, the new S-Cross seems really spacious, and there are enormous bottle holders on all four doors. Even the armrest may be adjusted simply by sliding it, and there is storage room beneath. However, it is not a chilled storage facility. More cubby holes and rooms may be found in the central console.
The instrument cluster of the S-Cross features twin dials and a MID, which depict a plethora of essential information. For carrying a good amount of luggage, the manufacturer has offered the car 375-litre boot space.
Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Brakes, Suspension & Tyres
Braking duties in the new Maruti Nexa S-Cross are assigned to ventilated disc at the front and the solid disc at the rear. While the suspension duties are handled by McPherson Strut with Coil Spring at the front and Torsion Beam with Coil Spring at the rear. The crossover-SUV rides on 16-inch machined alloy wheels which are shod in 215/60 size tyres. The offered spare wheel is a 215/60-R16 steel wheel.
Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Key Features
Speaking of a plethora of features offered by the carmaker, this beauty comes loaded with LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED rear combination lamps, machined alloy wheels, 17.8cm touchscreen smart play studio, auto rain-sensing wipers, multi-information display, cruise control, adjustable steering wheel, push start/stop, reverse parking camera, auto AC, electrically foldable and adjustable ORVMs, auto up/down with anti-pinch, 7-step illumination control, steering mounted audio and calling controls, Bluetooth connectivity, four-door speakers, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry, central locking to name a few. For the safety of passengers, it comes equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, reverse parking sensor, high-speed warning alert, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, engine immobiliser, hill hold assist, anti-theft security system and many more.
Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Top Speed, Acceleration & Mileage
2023 Maruti Nexa S-Cross offers a top speed of 160+ kmph and accelerates from 0-100 kmph within 12.08 seconds. As far as fuel efficiency is concerned, the car can offer a mileage of 18.43 km/l to 18.55 km/l depending on city traffic or highways.
Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Variants & Colour Options
The brand has introduced the vehicle with four variants called Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. As for the colour scheme, you can choose any of the given five vibrant colours named NEXA Blue, Caffeine Brown, Granite Grey, Pearl Arctic White and Premium Silver.
Ex-showroom Price & On-Road Price
The ex-showroom price for the new S-Cross starts at Rs 8.95 lakh for the Sigma variant and goes up to Rs 12.92 lakh for the Alpha automatic variant. To distinguish between off-road and on-road pricing, the ex-showroom price of a car is the asking price that does not include the cost of road tax, insurance, or registration. The on-road price, on the other hand, includes all of the aforementioned costs as well as insurance, registration, a one-time road tax, an extended warranty, and all vehicle accessories. It is important to note that on-road prices in our country vary widely from state to state.
Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Competitors
In the Indian car market in its segment, the new S-Cross locks horns with Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Nissan Kicks and the Honda Jazz.
Verdict - Should You Buy Maruti Suzuki S-Cross or not?
In the end, we can say, yes, it lacks some amenities when compared to competitors such as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, but Maruti Suzuki has priced the 2023 S-Cross extremely well, ensuring that it offers excellent value for money. Yes, you won't get a sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless phone charging system, Bose speakers, ambient lighting, or much more if you compare the brochure to the other cars, but you will receive good value for money and a reasonable feature list. However, there is one drawback you will not find a diesel engine option. Hence, you might be disappointed if you want to go for a diesel variant.

Terrible looks, boring interiors, cheap material, not enough leg-space for rear passengers and not enough safety features with top model of this car put me off immediately.
Suzuki surely needs to do more work for "premium" segment that they are claiming for this car belongs too.
It just looks like an extended version of their hatchback swift.
