Maruti DZire Review
Overview
The Maruti Dzire I’ve been getting to know, now let me tell you if you are into cars that do exactly what they say on the tin no fuss, no frills you are going to love this one. It’s practical, easy to drive, and has that appealing straightforward charm that’s so hard to dislike. It’s the smooth reliable buddy that’s there when you need, solid and dependable.
Design and Looks
But the Dzire won’t inspire you to stop and stare in awe. But you know what? That’s its style. It is clean and it is sensible, much like its saying, “I’m here to get you where you need to go.” There’s a simplicity in the way this Maruti kept it simple — no unnecessary angles, no loud accented lines, just smooth lines and a compact form. It’s small enough to be a pro at city driving and still looks good enough so you can pull up anywhere without feeling out of place.
I like the way the front grille has a bit of flair with flash of chrome on the front grille. Even while balancing style with practicality Maruti has done a nice job here. It isn’t shouting for attention, but there’s a bit of class in it that you’ll certainly like the feeling of when you’re driving it around town.
Engine and Performance
Let’s see what’s under there and pop the hood. A 1.2 liter petrol engine that makes about 89 horsepower in no way a rocket either but it will do the job. This engine is all you need for daily driving, city commutes, even a bit of highway time. It’s pretty smooth, pretty consistent, and it runs on pretty cheap fuel. Solomon ascribes this pay to Maruti knowing its audience here. On a good day, the Dzire makes just 22 kmpl and that means you’re not constantly pulling in to get gas.
Though it’s not built to race, and it hasn’t enough kick to make you race-like, it’ll move with traffic. Personally, I like it because it has the right balance between performance and economy; you can still get around without blowing yourself out on the fuel. That’s my sweet spot for a daily driver for me.
Inside the Cabin
But once you get inside, it’s about function and comfort. The cabin is a simple, easygoing layout with all of the everyday stuff where you’d like it to be. Pretty much standard these days, there’s a touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Not fancy, not flashy, just functional, and really it's all I need. I’d like a more car and less tech basically trying to distract me.
But I love the space most of all. The Dzire is a very roomy car for a compact sedan. The seats are comfy, there’s good legroom in the back. I’ve had friends sit back there with no complaints, and for long drives it’s cozy enough for everyone. They have also got a reasonable amount of boot space, as there are a few bags you want fit in when you’re packing up for a weekend or whatever is needed. Overall it’s just well thought out — like Maruti designed it keeping real people in mind.
Ride and Handling
This is where the Dzire wins for me. The thing is light and easy to steer around town. Turning the car feels like an easy task, and parking it doesn’t feel like pushing around a huge machine. It has this nice, predictable handling so that while you’re on tighter turns or quick maneuvers you’ve still got your control.
The suspension is a little on the soft side, just right for everyday roads with still plenty of potholes and bumps. Of course there is some roll if you try to take a corner too fast, but this car wasn’t really designed for high speed chases anyway, was it? What it is about is comfortable, smooth driving and in that regard the Dzire delivers.
Rivals and Comparisons
If you are looking for a car like the Dzire, then chances are you have already checked out the Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura. My other two were the Amaze which had a bit more punch but was also a little pricey and then Aura which had more modern interior and a few other features. On sheer value, I really feel the Dzire has its toe in. It doesn’t go out of its way to deceive you into thinking it’s something it isn’t—it’s affordable, it’s efficient, and it just delivers the basics. This is hard to beat if all you’re after is straightforward reliability.
Final Thoughts
This is why the Maruti Dzire is a practical, reliable car built to make the mundane tedium of the everyday a simple and enjoyable experience. It’s not loud and flashy, it’s just here to do its job, and do it well. It’s like that one friend that’s there all the time for you no questions, it’s steady and dependable no drama.
This won’t be your kind of thing if you’re looking for something with all the bells and whistles. And if you’re looking for a car that’s easy on the pocket, great on the pump, and performs hard work, then the Dzire’s done a lot for you. What if this is the car that helps you get through your daily grind? It might be worth a closer look, just.

User Reviews for Maruti DZire
A below average car
Recently, I purchased a DZIRE VXI after reading number of good reviews for this car, but I feel that most of the reviews are marketing gimmicks because nobody provide the car registration number. My purchase of DZIRE VXI is a great disappointment for me as it is a one of the worst car I had driven. The car is unable to move when I release clutch, it starts jerking every time. The need of acceleration to move the car is a great headache, especially to drive this car in bumper to bumper traffic. I reported this issue to Maruti but, they are telling me that it is normal because the initial rpm of these cars are low. If they increase the initial rpm, it will hamper the mileage. However, the mileage of the car with the current setting is not very great as I am getting only 12-13 km/l in-spite of that the 50% of my driving route is clean.
Best Features: Air Conditioner
Pros: Looks
Cons: Worst Clutch
Maruti Dzire VXi is an impressive car
Car drives excellently and I did 780 km in first three days. It returned 19.8 kmpl on the highway However, there is prominent rattling when clutch pedal is pressed to shift gear from 1st to 2nd. I tried another car owned by one more owner along with technician from Maruti Sai Service Pune. We observed same problem in that car too. This was during my first free servicing at 1000 km. Owners can share their experience so that we can discuss this with Maruti.
Best Features: Everything other than this vibration during gear shift
Pros: Silent engine
Cons: Rattling sound from gearbox when clutch pedal is pressed to shift from 1st gear to 2nd gear.
Attractive and Reliable Sedan
Hi, It is my great experience to travel in this car. It is so well designed and also quite comfortable to seat. The interiors are well designed and pick up is also praiseworthy. It goes in a very high speed with smooth pickup. It is well suited to family and teenagers too. The mileage is approximately 15 to km/litre which is good for petrol version. It offers a smooth and comfortable ride with sufficient boot space for luggage and goodies. The compact sedan is visually more appealing as compared to its forerunner. It gets good mileage for long trips. It is very fuel efficient with mileage of 26 kmpl for diesel and around 20 for the petrol version. I am using the petrol version. The price range is also reasonable and Maruti also offers good after sales service too. Braking system is quite smooth and driving this beauty is really comfortable as it doesn't feel too heavy even for ladies. With good mileage, elegant interiors and comfortable space, it is a dream come true for the Indian consumer.
Best Features: Attractive Design & Spacious
Pros: Low maintenance, good space, comfortable seats, attractive design, good pickup
Cons: No drawbacks and flaws
Poor Build Quality
Poor built quality but rich in looks, on speed above 120 kmph vehicle's braking performance is very poor . vehicle is lightweight to improve fuel efficiency. the sheet metal gauge used is very thin quality.
Best Features: Interiors
Pros: Comfort
Cons: On speed above 120 kmph vehicle's braking performance is very poor . vehicle is lightweight to improve fuel efficiency. the sheet metal gauge used is very thin quality.
