Maruti Suzuki eVX Electric SUV: Spy Shots Uncover Fresh Details

Maruti Suzuki, India's leading car manufacturer, is venturing into the electric vehicle (EV) market with its upcoming e-SUV, the eVX. While the brand has been relatively late in exploring battery electric vehicles (BEVs), it is now making strides with the testing of its first EV, the eVX. New spy shots have surfaced, providing a closer look at the vehicle and revealing intriguing details.

Size and Competition

Unlike the sub-4m Tata Nexon EV and Punch EV, the Maruti Suzuki eVX will be a larger vehicle, with an expected length between 4.2m and 4.3m. This positions it directly against competitors like the Mahindra XUV400, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE.05, and Citroen eC3 Aircross.

Design and Features

The spy video shared by Rolling Cars highlights several key features of the eVX:

  • Conventional headlight positioning with triple ice-cube effect LED DRLs and a mono LED projector setup.
  • A front fascia equipped with a radar module for an ADAS suite.
  • ORVMs with integrated cameras, suggesting a 360-camera setup.
  • Alloy wheels with a simpler design compared to the concept car.
  • A charging port located on the front left quarter panel.
  • All-four disc brakes for enhanced stopping power.
  • C-pillar mounted rear door handles.

Interior and Infotainment

The interior spy shots reveal a larger, free-standing touchscreen infotainment screen, speculated to be around 10.2 inches diagonally. This screen might also be used for the instrument cluster, providing a modern look. Expected features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a powered driver's seat, and dual-zone climate control.

Powertrain and Launch Expectations

The eVX is likely to offer 45 kWh and 60 kWh battery options, with single or dual motor AWD layouts. A claimed range of 550 km is anticipated. The launch is expected in 2025, along with a Toyota counterpart based on the Urban Crossover Concept revealed recently.

Maruti Suzuki's eVX electric SUV is shaping up to be a compelling entry in the EV market, with its larger size, advanced features, and competitive positioning. As more details emerge, the eVX is poised to be a strong contender in the electric SUV segment, offering a blend of Maruti Suzuki's reliability and the benefits of electric mobility.
