Discussions and Questions - Aston Martin Aston Martin - Page 3

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage is a pretty face, but is it also a true driver's car?
03 February 2025 08:54
It’s the difference between a tailored suit and off-the-rack clothing compared to a Porsche 911.
What’s the longevity of the DB9 Volante convertible top?
03 February 2025 08:31
The car is underappreciated in the way that it transforms from GT cruiser to sports car with a push of the sport button. It's like having two cars all in one.
As a true daily driver or weekend toy, the Aston Martin DB9 Volante is the question.
03 February 2025 08:31
For over a year I’ve driven my DB9 Volante daily and it has been surprisingly practical. Yes, fuel economy is not great, but the comfort and joy it provides during the mundane commute is worth it.
What’s the driving experience like in a modern sports car compared to the DB9 Volante?
03 February 2025 08:31
The biggest myth is that they are unreliable money pits. Regular maintenance and my DB9 has been rock solid. It’s not cheap, but it’s not the nightmare that some people make it out to be.
Is the driving experience of the DB9 Coupe worth the maintenance cost?
03 February 2025 08:28
The charm is in the fact that the maintenance costs are part of the equation. Buying a vintage watch is like that, it needs to be cared for and given attention, but that’s what makes it special.
So the question is, is the Aston Martin DB9 Coupe worth its high price tag?
03 February 2025 08:28
That depends. Perhaps not if you want the ultimate driving machine. However, if you want to feel like James Bond each time you are behind the wheel, it’s priceless.
Does the DB9 Coupe hold up to modern luxury standards in terms of the interior?
03 February 2025 08:28
It's beautiful, but feels dated. It feels like a relic compared to newer luxury cars with no touchscreen, old school nav system, and limited connectivity options.
Is the DB12 a match for the established players like the Ferrari Roma?
03 February 2025 08:20
It's not about competing directly. The DB12 brings a different experience, more GT, more useful daily. This is for a buyer who is looking for performance but isn’t going to be showing it off.
Is the DB12 really worth the hefty price tag?
03 February 2025 08:20
That depends on what you are looking for. The DB12 is hard to beat if you want the ultimate grand tourer with a mix of luxury and performance. If you want pure performance, however, there are better options for less money.
How does the DB12's 'Super Tourer' classification differentiate it?
03 February 2025 08:20
I disagree. In terms of blending GT comfort with supercar performance, the DB12 really does it better than most. It’s more livable than a Ferrari, yet more exciting than a Bentley.
What is the Aston Martin DBX’s performance like compared to other luxury SUVs?
03 February 2025 08:17
Performance is subjective. On paper, others might well be faster, but the way it delivers its power and handles is pure Aston. It's about the experience.
First and foremost: Is the Aston Martin DBX a ‘real’ Aston Martin?
03 February 2025 08:17
Absolutely! While the DBX may be an SUV, like any Aston Martin, it has the brand’s DNA through and through. Did you see how it runs? This is like a sports car on stilts!
How does that Vanquish compare with its Italian rivals?
03 February 2025 08:13
The engine sound is nailed by Aston. The Vanquish's V12 is certainly up there with the best of the Italian powerplants in terms of aural pleasure.
Is the Vanquish’s performance worth the price over the DB12?
03 February 2025 08:13
That depends on what you are looking for. If you want the ultimate Aston experience, however, the Vanquish is worth it. However, the DB12 is likely the better purchase for most.
Is the new Aston Martin Vanquish worth the hype?
03 February 2025 08:13
Absolutely! The new Vanquish is an absolute work of art. Just that V12 sound alone is worth the price of admission. It is the ideal combination of luxury and performance.
How does the predecessor of Vanquish compare with it?
03 February 2025 08:13
The previous gen honestly is my preferred. It feels like the new one has tried too hard to be a supercar rather than a grand tourer. That Aston charm was lost.
What is the quirkiest or most unexpected thing about living with a Rapide?
03 February 2025 08:04
Infotainment system needs to be seriously upgraded. The old one was pretty dated. Provide us with a large touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, but with some physical buttons for key functions.
What is the difference between owning a Rapide and other Aston Martin models?
03 February 2025 08:04
The Rapide is pretty much the same maintenance wise as other Astons. If you’re familiar with DB9 or DBS maintenance, then the V12 is a known quantity and you won’t be thrown any curveballs by the Rapide.
Can I really use the Aston Martin Rapide as a daily driver?
03 February 2025 08:04
I’ve been daily driving my Rapide for the last year, and it has surprisingly been very practical. It has decent trunk space for groceries and the four doors make it easy to get in and out. It's not as big as a regular sedan but a heck of a lot more usable than a regular sports car.
What is the quirkiest feature or design element of the DB9?
03 February 2025 08:00
How the doors open slightly upwards at an angle. It's called "swan wing" doors. It’s not quite gullwing, but it is unique and helps to add to the sense of occasion.
