What is the quirkiest or most unexpected thing about living with a Rapide?
The quirkiest thing by far is the looks you get when all four doors swing open. People double take when they see it’s a four door Aston, as if it can’t possibly be real.
It’s the way the car feels to drive, it seems to shrink around you. It looks massive from the outside, but behind the wheel it feels like a much smaller sports car.
The most unexpected thing is the fact that I use the back seats so often. I bought them thinking it would be mostly for show, but I use them way more than I thought I would.
I was surprised by how much it draws non-car people’s attention. Most people can’t name the model but they know it’s something special. It's a rolling art piece.
The most unexpected thing for me was that it’s so good for road trips. It’s quiet, comfortable and big enough to store luggage. It's a proper grand tourer.
The quirkiest thing is the foot operated parking brake. In such a modern car it feels so old school, but you get used to it.
I didn’t think I’d be using the sport mode as much as I do. I use it even for just quick trips to the store, because it makes the car come alive.
I would like to see a hybrid powertrain. Give purists the V12, but have a plug in hybrid for better efficiency and instant torque. That would make it more daily driver friendly.
Infotainment system needs to be seriously upgraded. The old one was pretty dated. Provide us with a large touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, but with some physical buttons for key functions.
I would want to see them extend the performance envelope. Give it the AMR treatment, full power, better brakes and track focused suspension options. Make it a true four door supercar.
I would honestly want it to remain largely as it is, but with modern amenities. Rapide was timeless so just refine it rather than reinvent it.
I would like to see more customization. Extend the Aston Martin Q by Aston Martin program to offer truly bespoke Rapides. Allow owners to make something truly unique.
They must concentrate on increasing space and comfort in the rear seats. The Rapide always suffered from that compared to rivals like the Panamera.
I would like to see some of the new Vantage tech, such as the electronic rear diff. That would make the Rapide more capable in the corners.
The V12 stays, but they should also have a twin turbo V8 available for better fuel economy. Not everyone requires 12 cylinders all the time, nor does everyone need or want them.
The GT aspect should be leaned into more. Make it the ultimate long distance cruiser, with even more luxury interior and advanced driver aids for those long highway miles.
