Maruti Ritz LXi

About
The Maruti Suzuki Ritz LXi is a hatchback that stands out for its unique design and practical features. The car features a tallboy design, which provides excellent headroom and ease of entry and exit. The interior is spacious, with comfortable front seats and decent rear legroom, although knee space is slightly limited. The dashboard is simple yet functional, with a central speedometer and a separate tachometer pod. The AC is highly effective, and the car comes with useful storage spaces, including bottle holders and a storage box on the dashboard. The K12M engine is smooth and responsive, making the Ritz LXi a joy to drive, especially in city conditions. While it has some minor drawbacks like stiff suspension and body roll at high speeds, the overall package makes it a compelling choice for those looking for a reliable and economical hatchback in India.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Maruti Suzuki Ritz LXi is a practical and economical choice for those seeking a reliable hatchback in India. Its refined engine, particularly the K12M unit, offers excellent drivability and a peppy performance, making it enjoyable to drive in both city traffic and on highways. The car boasts ample space, especially in the front, with upright seating that makes ingress and egress easy. However, the rear seats, while comfortable, have slightly less knee space. The AC is highly effective, and the dashboard design, though simple, is functional and aesthetically pleasing. Despite some drawbacks like body roll at high speeds and stiff suspension, the Ritz LXi is a solid option for its price, offering great value for money.
Price
When I purchased the Maruti Suzuki Ritz LXi, the ex-showroom price was approximately 4.44 lakhs. After adding the on-road costs, the total came to around 4.78 lakhs. There were also some discounts and exchange bonuses available, which brought the final cost down. For instance, exchanging an old Maruti 800 added a bonus of 50,000, and a discount of 13,000 was also applied. These factors made the Ritz LXi an attractive option financially, especially considering it was 34,000 cheaper than the base version of the Swift LXi.
Latest Updates
Monday, 27 February 2017 03:21 PM Maruti Suzuki discontinued the Ritz in 2017, marking the end of an eight-year run that saw approximately 4 lakh unit sales. The decision was made to make way for newer models, as the Ritzs sales had been relatively low compared to other popular models. I think this move was necessary for Maruti to stay competitive in the market.
Friday, 17 April 2015 02:40 PM In 2015, Maruti Suzuki announced the discontinuation of the Ritz, citing low sales figures of 34,500 units in the fiscal year 2014-15. This move was part of the companys strategy to focus on more successful models. I believe this decision helped Maruti allocate resources more efficiently.
Monday, 14 July 2014 04:56 PM Maruti Suzuki introduced the limited edition Elate model of the Ritz in 2014, offering additional features and a discount of Rs 65,000 to attract more buyers. This special edition was part of the companys efforts to boost sales of the Ritz. I think such limited editions can be a great way to keep a model fresh and appealing.
Thursday, 23 August 2012 09:11 AM The Maruti Ritz received a facelift in 2012, which included an automatic transmission option and enhanced safety features like ABS and airbags in certain variants. This update aimed to make the Ritz more appealing and practical, especially in urban traffic. I believe the addition of an automatic gearbox was a smart move to cater to city drivers.
Thursday, 01 January 2009 04:32 PM The Maruti Ritz was initially launched in India in 2009, replacing the Estilo and competing with other hatchbacks like the Hyundai i20. It was known for its tall boy design, providing excellent headroom and visibility. I think the Ritzs unique design was one of its strongest selling points.
Mileage
Friday, 22 November 2024 01:07 PM The Maruti Suzuki Ritz LXi is known for its fuel efficiency, which is a crucial factor for many Indian buyers. With the K12M engine, the car delivers a respectable mileage of around 15-18 kml in city driving and up to 20 kml on highways, depending on driving conditions. This makes it an economical choice for daily commuting and long drives, helping to keep running costs in check.

I am riding Ritz since two years. It's a good car for small family of four members. The overall design is nice and different. Most of it, it's a fuel efficient car which is the prime need of every buyer. Initially, I got 12kmpl average through this car which later improved to 14kmpl. Yes, now it is constant at 14. I believe it depends upon the driving skills also that how well you treat your car. I always drive at moderate speed with less gear shifting. Ergonomically, its really amazing with good rolling of seats. The front seats are good enough to provide clear visibility of the road thanks to high driving position. The rear seats are also comfortable for long tours and it support lots of spaces for needy stuff. Overall, it provides smooth drive even with 5 on-board passengers. I must recommend this car to everyone.

Its a great car (lxi). I wish it had more gadgets to play with and better interiors (seats look  hyperjazzy). It is still value for money, sporty looks and an engine to match it!
