About
The Honda Brio S is Hondas entry-level hatchback in India, known for its compact dimensions and sporty design. It is powered by a 1.2-liter i-VTEC petrol engine that produces 86.8 bhp and 109 Nm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission. The Brio S features central locking, digital odometer, air conditioner, keyless entry, height-adjustable driver seat, Bluetooth connectivity, and steering-mounted controls. Its interior is fresh and solidly built, although it lacks some advanced features. The cars handling is its strong suit, making it a delight to drive through congested city roads. However, it has limited boot space and can be bumpy on rough roads, which might be a consideration for potential buyers. Despite these drawbacks, the Brio S remains a popular choice for its blend of performance, economy, and utility.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Honda Brio S is a compelling choice for those seeking a fun-to-drive and handling-oriented vehicle. With its 1.2-liter i-VTEC engine, it offers a balance of power and fuel efficiency, making it a joy to navigate through city roads. The interior, though not lavish, is contemporary and well-built, enhancing the overall driving experience. However, the Brio falls short in terms of boot space and ride comfort, particularly on sharp bumps. Despite these limitations, its excellent handling and visibility make it a strong contender in the hatchback segment. For those prioritizing driving dynamics over family-friendly features, the Brio S is an excellent option.
Price
The Honda Brio S is priced competitively in the Indian market, with ex-showroom prices in Delhi ranging from Rs 4.73 lakh to Rs 6.81 lakh, depending on the variant. On-road prices, including taxes and other charges, can go up to around Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh. This pricing makes the Brio S an attractive option for first-time car buyers or those looking for a budget-friendly yet feature-packed hatchback. However, its important to note that the Brio is no longer in production, so prices may vary based on the availability of remaining units with select dealers.
Latest Updates
Thursday, 21 November 2024 05:31 PM
As of the latest information, there have been no recent updates or launches for the Honda Brio S in India, given its discontinuation. The focus has shifted to other models that comply with the current emission standards. I believe this marks the end of an era for a car that once had a strong presence in the Indian market.

The Honda Brio, which was launched in India in September 2011, has been discontinued due to the implementation of BS6 regulations. Despite its popularity, with over 97,000 units sold, the Brio is no longer available in the Indian market. I think this move was inevitable given the stringent emission norms.
Thursday, 02 August 2018 11:28 AM
Although not launched in India, the second generation Honda Brio was unveiled in Indonesia in August 2018. This new model shared underpinnings with the new generation Amaze but had distinct styling. The unveiling suggested that Honda was committed to updating its entry-level models, even if not immediately for the Indian market.
Thursday, 19 April 2018 08:23 AM
In April 2018, the Honda Small RS Concept was revealed at the Indonesia International Motor Show, previewing the next generation Brio. This concept hinted at the design and features that could be expected in future updates, though it did not translate into an Indian launch. I think the concept showed promise, but its absence in India was a missed opportunity.
Tuesday, 04 October 2016 01:30 PM
Honda Cars India updated the Brio with a facelift in October 2016, pricing it starting at Rs. 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This update included revised styling, similar to the Amaze and Mobilio, and some interior tweaks. The facelift was a welcome change, but it didnt drastically alter the vehicles overall appeal.
Thursday, 08 September 2016 09:42 AM
Before its official launch, the facelifted Honda Brio was spotted at a dealership in India in September 2016. The update was first seen at the 2016 Indonesia Motor Show and brought minor but noticeable changes to the exterior and interior. I believe these updates helped keep the Brio relevant in the competitive hatchback segment.

At the 2016 Indonesia Auto Show, Honda showcased the Brio RS, which featured a new front end, updated interiors, and a sportier look. Although this variant was not specifically launched in India, it hinted at potential future updates for the Indian market. The RS trim added a sporty flair that could have appealed to many Indian buyers.

In 2014, the Honda Brio ranked highest across segments in the JD Power India Initial Quality Study. This study involved 8,429 vehicle owners who purchased new vehicles between November 2013 and July 2014. This achievement highlighted the Brios reliability and quality, which were key selling points. I think this recognition was a significant boost for Hondas reputation in India.
Mileage
Friday, 22 November 2024 07:21 PM
The Honda Brio S offers respectable mileage figures, with the manual transmission variant delivering up to 18.5 kmpl, while the automatic transmission variant provides around 16.5 kmpl. These numbers are quite competitive in the hatchback segment, making the Brio S a viable choice for those concerned about running costs and fuel efficiency.
