About
The Maruti Suzuki Ritz Diesel LDi is a compact yet spacious hatchback that has garnered a reputation for its reliability and performance. Powered by a 1.3-liter diesel engine producing 75 horsepower and 190 Nm of torque, it offers a smooth and responsive drive, especially in the mid-range. The car features a manual transmission and is known for its excellent fuel economy and low maintenance costs. The interior is roomy, with good leg and headroom, although rear seat comfort can be compromised with three passengers. USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Maruti Suzuki Ritz Diesel LDi is a robust and reliable choice for those seeking a no-nonsense hatchback. With over six years of ownership and 60,000 kilometers covered, users have reported zero major issues, highlighting its durability. The car boasts excellent fuel economy, with city mileage of 18 kml and highway mileage of 23 kml, even with the air conditioner on. The engine performance is commendable, offering smooth and powerful driving, especially in the mid-range. However, there are some minor drawbacks such as body roll at high speeds and the need for better tyres for improved road grip. Overall, it is a great value-for-money option, known for its spacious interior, comfortable ride, and low maintenance costs.
Price
The Maruti Suzuki Ritz Diesel LDi, although discontinued, can give us an insight into its pricing when it was available. The ex-showroom price for the Ritz LDi variant was around Rs. 5.50 lakh. On-road prices varied by location but typically ranged from Rs. 5.77 lakh to Rs. 6.17 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. Considering its features, performance, and fuel efficiency, the Ritz LDi offered a competitive pricing in its segment. For those looking to purchase a used model, prices would be significantly lower, reflecting its age and mileage.
Latest Updates
Friday, 17 April 2015 05:36 PM The Maruti Suzuki Ritz, including the LDi variant, was discontinued in India in April 2015. This decision was made due to low sales, with only 34,500 units sold in the fiscal year 2014-2015. The discontinuation made way for new models like the YRA. I think this move was necessary for Maruti Suzuki to focus on more popular and profitable models.
Saturday, 20 October 2012 04:07 PM An owner of the Maruti Ritz LDi reported excellent performance and low maintenance costs over six years and 60,000 kilometers of driving. The car showed no major issues and maintained a fuel efficiency of 18+ kmpl in the city and 23+ kmpl on the highway. I believe this speaks well to the reliability and durability of the Ritz LDi.
Thursday, 23 August 2012 04:00 PM In 2012, Maruti Suzuki introduced a facelifted version of the Ritz, which included the LDi diesel variant. This update featured a more appealing design and added features such as an automatic gearbox in the petrol variants and airbags in the ZDi diesel variant. I believe these updates were a good attempt to keep the Ritz competitive in the market.
Friday, 01 June 2012 12:42 AM The Maruti Ritz LDi, powered by a 1.3-liter Fiat Multijet diesel engine, offered a mileage of 23.2 kmpl and produced 73 bhp of power. This variant was known for its fuel efficiency and was a popular choice due to its lower running costs compared to the petrol variants. I think the diesel engine was a strong point for the Ritz, especially for those looking for economical driving.
Wednesday, 01 June 2011 05:54 PM The Maruti Ritz LDi was priced around Rs. 5.77 lakh on-road when it was purchased in June 2011. The car was appreciated for its comfort, space, and value for money. However, it had some drawbacks like body roll on corners and bumpy rides on uneven roads. I think it was a solid choice for those seeking a practical and economical vehicle.
Mileage
Friday, 22 November 2024 03:39 AM The Maruti Suzuki Ritz Diesel LDi is highly efficient in terms of mileage, making it an attractive option for those concerned about running costs. It offers an ARAI-certified mileage of 23.2 kml, with real-world users reporting around 18-23 kml in city driving and up to 23 kml on highways. This fuel efficiency, combined with its reliable engine, makes the Ritz LDi a cost-effective choice for daily commuting and long road trips.

I am riding Ritz since two years. It's a good car for small family of four members. The overall design is nice and different. Most of it, it's a fuel efficient car which is the prime need of every buyer. Initially, I got 12kmpl average through this car which later improved to 14kmpl. Yes, now it is constant at 14. I believe it depends upon the driving skills also that how well you treat your car. I always drive at moderate speed with less gear shifting. Ergonomically, its really amazing with good rolling of seats. The front seats are good enough to provide clear visibility of the road thanks to high driving position. The rear seats are also comfortable for long tours and it support lots of spaces for needy stuff. Overall, it provides smooth drive even with 5 on-board passengers. I must recommend this car to everyone.

In my opinion it is the best and allrounder diesel car on indian roads with minimum maintainance and practically most fuel efficient. It is definitely more than car. It should be categorised between car and SUV segment. Comfort and driving pleasure cannot be illustrated by words but can be experiensed only by differentiation.

Proud owner of the Ritz LDI from last three years. Nice comfortable and Family car .Good for tall passangers. Good performance and the unique choice of gentlemans , I mean you will hardly find Ritz driven in Rash Manner unlike Swift .I check mileage for my Ritz LDI on every fill and gets around 19-20 km for commuting to office Where I can drive the car in top for almost 70-80% of distance of journey and few weekend trips to city. I recently got mileage of around 25-kmpl on the National high way also . Only some what not satisfied with the luggage space.

It is time to consider the following modifications to stand out. 1. Clearance need to be enhanced. The reason being that:- these days roads are bad & cannot expect good roads all through any where every where. (the simplest quick fix would be to provide a bigger Tyre) 2. The front chin of the vehicle needs to be lifted by an inch or two ...as it easily gets bumped in bad roads & potholes.(never visualize roads without potholes). 3. A slight extension of the dickey & change back appearance. The present Sliced-off & Smashed-in appearance of Ritz's back is not a well received look. "Otherwise, I love Ritz".
