Hummer H3 SUV Review
Synopsis
Introduced for the 2006 model year, Hummer H3 is a sports utility vehicle/off-road vehicle from Hummer production.
The H3 delivers exceptional rock crawling and climbing performance like all Hummer vehicles. Among midsize SUVs, the H3 was engineered majorly for off-road leadership. Its electronically controlled four-wheel drive system is a major of its capability. Traction control, underbody shielding, an optional rear locking differential and StabiliTrak stability control are some of the appealing features of this vehicle. It offers two tire packages both larger than any other midsize SUV, a Goodyear 32-inch, all-terrain tire and Bridgestone 33-inch off-road tire.
The H3 also provides the perfection, contentment and amenity required for enjoyable on-road driving as well. It provides some exclusive options such as heated leather seats, a large electric express open/close sliding sunroof, a DVD-based navigation radio and numerous customized accessories.
Other than its outstanding functionality and off-road performance, it also provides a surprisingly smooth, comfortable ride, along with responsive handling and braking control for daily driving. Its amazing framework characteristics contribute to this combination of smoothness and control, both on- and off-road.
These include a fully welded ladder-type frame, for outstanding strength and stiffness. As it offers both excellent on-highway comfort and outstanding off-road capability, Hummer H3 is best to buy.
User Reviews for Hummer H3
I chose the H3, despite its design flaws.
After owning my 2008 HUMMER H3 for a few months, I am still in love with the exterior. It looks powerful and aggressive, and I can't help but feel a sense of adventure when I'm behind the wheel. Unfortunately, the interior design could use some work. The arm rest of the door panel is too low for my comfort, and I have to constantly kink my neck down when I'm stopped at a stop light. There is also no storage space for sunglasses or purses, which is a bit inconvenient.
Additionally, the dirt and splash from the road can easily get up the sides of the front door and door handles after driving over a puddle. As a female in my mid 50's, I wanted to find a vehicle that I could enjoy driving and that wasn't a van. I'm glad I chose the H3, despite its design flaws.
5-speed manual transmission is subpar, with my old dump truck having a tighter linkage
This vehicle is AMAZING. Yes, I am absolutely astounded by how anyone other than a GM employee could possibly buy one of these cars. The 5-speed manual transmission is subpar, with my old dump truck having a tighter linkage. The front seats are the worst I have ever sat in; they feel like I’m sinking into a bucket, and the side bolsters are so tight that my right leg falls asleep. It feels like a cheap attempt at a sports car-like seating. The fold-down rear seats don’t fold down completely flat, and the steering wheel doesn’t telescope to make up for the terrible seating position. Furthermore, dirt, mud, and snow are often thrown up onto the door handles by the tires.
Great ride for anyone looking for a reliable off-road vehicle that is both fun and functional
The HUMMER H3 is a really fun vehicle to drive. I have never experienced such a feeling of control as I have with the H3. It responds quickly to commands and feels secure and stable no matter the terrain. The 3.7 liter 5 cylinder engine provides plenty of power and is surprisingly fuel efficient. I have seen up to 15.5 mpg on mountain roads. The interior is quite roomy and the seats are comfortable enough for long journeys. Visibility from the driver's seat is not the best, but it's manageable. All in all, the HUMMER H3 is a great ride for anyone looking for a reliable off-road vehicle that is both fun and functional.
The look is sharp, driving it is a lot of fun, and it is easy to maintain.
I was a bit apprehensive about my purchase. But I'm glad that I didn't let any reviews sway my decision. My H3 has been the best car I have ever owned. In the past three years, I have tried out four new cars, and I finally found one that I truly love. I had been trying to get my wife to let me use her car every time we go out for a ride, so as to keep my miles down, but she wouldn't agree. She loves riding in the H3 no matter what the mileage. Many people try to modify it and make it something that it's not. I bought the H3 because it was already perfect; the look is sharp, driving it is a lot of fun, and it is easy to maintain.
Poor fuel economy and limited interior space can be drawbacks
The Hummer H3 is an off-road ready SUV that is designed for those who need a vehicle that can handle rough terrain. It comes standard with a 3.7-liter I-5 engine that produces 239 horsepower and 241 pound-feet of torque, and a five-speed manual transmission. An optional four-speed automatic is also available. All Hummers come with four-wheel drive, two-speed transfer case, and front and rear locking differentials.
The H3 Alpha model is equipped with a 5.3-liter V-8 engine that produces 300 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque, and is backed by a four-speed automatic transmission. The Hummer H3 also features four-wheel anti-lock brakes (ABS), dual front airbags, curtain first and second row overhead airbags, airbag occupancy sensor, four-wheel drive, hill start off assist traction control, and StabiliTrak stability control and OnStar all come standard. The fuel economy of the Hummer H3 is on the lower side of the spectrum, with the standard model achieving 14 mpg city/18 mpg highway, and the Alpha model achieving 13 mpg city/16 mpg highway.
The Hummer H3 offers distinctive styling, good off-road ability, and a five-cylinder engine. However, its poor fuel economy and limited interior space can be drawbacks.
