Datsun GO+
General information and overview
The Datsun GO+ is a compact multi-purpose vehicle designed primarily for Indian families needing versatile seating and urban usability at an entry-level price. It features a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing around 68-83 PS depending on the version, paired with a 5-speed manual or CVT gearbox, tuned for city-friendly responsiveness. The cabin offers a simple yet functional layout with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting smartphone integration, dual-tone interiors, and comfortable front and middle rows, with the third row suitable for kids or occasional use. Its slim footprint and light steering facilitate navigation through crowded city roads, while suspension tuning ensures a comfortable ride on broken surfaces. Safety is addressed by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors. Though it lacks premium features and sound insulation, the GO+ holds strong appeal for those prioritizing economy, space, and practicality in India’s urban settings.
The Datsun GO+ is a compact MPV designed primarily for Indian family use, offering flexible seating for up to seven passengers with the third row suitable mostly for kids or occasional use. It features a 1198 cc petrol engine paired with a manual or CVT automatic gearbox, delivering modest power tailored for city and occasional highway drives. The interior prioritizes functionality, with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, alongside essential safety features like dual front airbags and ABS with EBD. The cabin is surprisingly spacious and comfortable given its segment but shows some compromises in noise insulation and cabin material quality. Its compact dimensions and light steering make it very maneuverable for dense urban traffic, while the suspension is tuned for ride comfort over typical Indian road surfaces. The GO+ appeals to budget buyers looking for a reliable, practical, and economical MPV with basic modern amenities.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Datsun GO+ stands out as a highly economical and practical option for Indian families seeking a budget-friendly compact MPV. It impresses with its spacious interior that can accommodate up to seven passengers, although the third row is best suited for children due to limited comfort for adults. The car’s light steering and small turning radius make city driving and parking effortless. Its suspension is tuned primarily for urban roads, effectively absorbing potholes and rough patches, though it can feel a bit floaty at higher speeds. The engine offers adequate torque and responsiveness, making urban commuting smooth despite some noise and insulation shortcomings inside the cabin. Safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors are notable improvements over older versions. However, the GO+ does have compromises in cabin noise insulation and long-distance comfort. Overall, it is an affordable, practical people mover for city dwellers prioritizing value over luxury or refinement.
The Datsun GO+ stands out as a practical and affordable compact MPV suited for Indian families prioritizing budget and utility. It offers a spacious cabin with seating for up to seven, though the last row is best for short trips or children. The driving experience is city-friendly with light steering, good maneuverability, and smooth suspension that handles typical Indian road imperfections well. Performance is adequate for urban commuting with a responsive petrol engine and easy gearbox, though it lacks refinement at higher speeds due to road and engine noise. Safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and parking sensors in recent variants have improved its appeal. However, compromises such as basic interior materials, modest noise insulation, and less impressive high-speed stability remind me this is a budget offering focused on practicality over luxury. Overall, the GO+ is a sensible choice for buyers needing a no-frills, cost-effective people mover without premium expectations.
Recent news and announcements
Datsun India has announced a price hike for the Datsun GO+ by 5%, effective immediately, due to increased costs, particularly related to safety features. The prices now range from Rs. 3.86 lakh to Rs. 5.94 lakh, with an increase of Rs. 19,000 to Rs. 30,000 depending on the variant. I think this hike is reasonable given the added safety features.
The 2025 Datsun GO+ is expected to carry forward the updates seen in the Datsun GO, including a refreshed front end with a new grill design, updated headlights with LED accents, and a more dynamic bumper. The rear design will feature new tail lights and a revised bumper for a modern look. This facelift aims to enhance the vehicles appeal in the compact car segment. I think these updates will make the GO+ more competitive in the market.
Datsun India has not yet revealed the official prices for the 2025 Datsun GO+, but it is anticipated that the prices will see an increase from the current range, which starts at Rs. 3.32 lakh and goes up to Rs. 5.17 lakh. The new pricing will be announced closer to the launch date.
The 2025 Datsun GO+ will come with a more refined cabin, featuring improved materials and a modern dashboard layout. The interior will focus on functionality and comfort, with a user-friendly design and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This should significantly enhance the driving experience.
Safety features in the 2025 Datsun GO+ have been enhanced, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, a rear parking sensor, and a 360° camera. These additions are expected to improve the vehicles safety ratings and appeal to safety-conscious buyers. I believe these safety upgrades are a step in the right direction.
