Latest Updates
Monday, 09 January 2023 10:56 AM The Yamaha FZS V3 Vintage Edition is the latest iteration of the popular FZS series of bikes, and it brings a host of updates to the market. The bike comes with a larger fuel tank, bigger tyres and improved suspension, making it an ideal choice for long-distance riding.
Tuesday, 01 December 2020 08:04 PM The Yamaha FZS FI V3 Vintage Edition was launched in India in December 2020, priced at Rs. 1,09,700 (ex-showroom Delhi). This new variant brings a blend of style and technology, featuring a new paint scheme in Vintage Green, tan-colored leather finish single-piece two-level seat, and vintage graphics. I think these aesthetic changes give the bike a unique and appealing look.
Tuesday, 01 December 2020 10:03 AM Yamaha introduced the Yamaha Motorcycle Connect X application with the FZS FI V3 Vintage Edition, allowing smartphones to connect to the bike via Bluetooth. This feature includes utilities such as Riding History, Locate my Bike, E-Lock, Hazard, and parking record. I believe this addition enhances the bikes functionality and user experience significantly.
Tuesday, 01 December 2020 11:22 PM The FZS FI V3 Vintage Edition retains the same mechanical specifications as the standard model, powered by a 149cc SOHC, air-cooled, single-cylinder fuel-injected motor producing 12.4 PS of power and 13.6 Nm of torque. The bike also features a 5-speed transmission and single-channel ABS. I think the engines refinement and smooth power delivery make it a strong contender in its segment.
Tuesday, 01 December 2020 02:43 PM The Vintage Edition of the FZS FI V3 includes several comfort-focused updates, such as a 16% larger seating surface area for the pillion seat, which is also 26 mm wider and 5 mm thicker. Additionally, a newly designed muffler protector and lower engine fairing enhance the bikes design and functionality. I believe these changes make the bike more comfortable for both riders and pillion passengers.
Tuesday, 01 December 2020 09:58 PM The Yamaha FZS FI V3 Vintage Edition is positioned competitively in the 150-160cc segment, rivaling bikes like the Hero Xtreme 160R and TVS Apache RTR 160. Despite its additional features, it is priced affordably at Rs. 1,09,700, making it an attractive option for buyers seeking a blend of style, comfort, and technology. I think this pricing strategy could help Yamaha attract more young customers.

Yamaha FZS V3 Vintage Edition Review

07 Nov, 2024 09:38 AM

Overview

Yamaha FZS V3 Vintage Edition: Personal Viewpoint with Blunt Realizations

In terms of styling that links the bike to its nostalgic roots as well as its contemporary features that make the motorcycle a perfect tool for use on the road today, then there is no better example than the Yamaha FZS V3 Vintage Edition. That is not some bike with a name just attached to give it a prestigious sounding label. There are moments where Yamaha just decided to give us this retro, almost vintage, feel that we hadn’t gotten before, without removing all of the tech and the sturdiness that makes modern motorcycles special. I’ve got some experience working with it, and I can tell you, there is much to discuss. Okay, so let me tell you what is special about this bike – and, of course, a few things I observed that are just plain weird.

That is why the Vintage Edition is different – and preferable – from the usual ones.

The first thing that gave me the impression was? Yeah, that old school look green paint job matching the brown leather textured looking seats. It really was a sight to behold, not that I am exaggerating because it could as well pass as a location in some old black and white movie. Of course, the bike isn’t stuck in the past; it has pedals and a shockingly high price tag of $3,295. Hidden under all the retro looks is Yamaha’s fine engineering and it shows in every ride. Said was said if I were to gather all this into one, then this is like a throwback of sorts but in all the non compromising sense of the term.

Key Specs (A Quick Glance)

Feature: Details

Engine:149cc, fuel-injected

Power: 12.4 PS at 7,250 RPM

Torque: 13.3 Nm at 5,500 RPM

Weight:137 kg

Mileage: Around 45-50 km/l (claimed)

Price: Rs.1.25 lakh (ex-showroom)

If you are hoping for something that shouts performance this may not be it. But if you are about efficiency, tight, snag-free and eye-popping rides, you’d be impressed with what it brings to the table. For me it is perfect balance of being plain and revealing at the same time.

Today I will be sharing what I love about riding the FZS V3 Vintage Edition.

If there is one thing I would like to discuss for sure, that is experiencing riding. The first time we met I can’t lie I based my judgment on appearance. That it is such an utter turn on is vintage styling. However after working for some hours I saw that it was not only a customisation issue. Here’s what stood out to me:

Smooth and Predictable Power

The motorist has no heart and soul to wow with the 149cc engine, but it works in a most beguiling way. It is slippery, very predictable but as perfect for maneuvering through city traffic or even long distance weekend drives on the highways. In a way it is like having a good friend whose ever willing to go but does not complain about what is happening.

Comfort That Speaks Volumes

This bike riding posture? Absolute bliss. I had a comfortable handle bar as wide as the road and sat erect without the need of a chiropractor for the next couple of hours. Longer rides felt even more easily manageable, which is quite uncommon in this segment in my experience.

Timeless Ornaments on a Modern Concept

That’s where Yamaha shines in my opinion. You get all the nostalgia of the 70s and 90s films, but do not think you are lacking in current day trinkets. The headlight is bright enough to ride through the night, and the Bluetooth on the digital console is something most riders don’t need, but I need. And when you pay Rs. 3,52,000 plus another Rs. 29,529 as ABS wiring, then install single-channel ABS into this motorbike, then you have a bike that appears vintage but performs in the modern age.

Who Is This Bike For?

Here’s how I see it. This bike is best suited to a person who is paramount about character and flavour rather than power. Perhaps you are a person who has always dreamed of an inter stock period of the old and the new construction. Or perhaps it is as simple as getting a bike that will make people ask, ‘what on earth are you riding?’ It will be ideal for the urban cyclist such as myself who requires a practical urban bicycle for daily use, in addition to having that show-piece bicycle for use on the weekends.

My Takeaway: Vintage Feels, Modern Soul

I found the Yamaha FZS V3 Vintage Edition to be as comfortable as your favourite leather jacket. It is fashion most, comfortable and one cannot help but feel good just being in it all the time. Well yes it may not be the fastest bike on the market but that is not what the company set out to provide. What is provided, nonetheless, is a comfortable and solid gliding experience, as pleasant when stuck in between stoplights as when moving through an empty expanse of asphalt. If you ask me whether I would recommend it, my response is an absolute yes, but it personally reminds me the long path to getting a degree. But if speed and performance are what you’re looking for, there are a whole host of bikes out there. However, if like me you prefer cruising and revealing in the heritage, this bike was made just for you.

The bike appeals to riders of all ages. Beginner-friendly bike. The power delivery doesn't scare you but has enough oomph. Capable to cruise at 100 kmph . You can roam in the city even at 5th gear. At around 4k rpm you can feel the torque rush. Very comfortable seat( both Rider and pillion ). Mileage is great for a 250cc (33 and 40kmpl at city and highway respectively) Although lightweight, it gives you a big bike feel due to the fuel tank. Instrument console could have been bigger but you will get used to it. Headlamp illumination is ok for city use although being an LED. Auxiliary lamps would help it for highway rides at night The suspension is set towards comfort side Tyres although wide enough, not recommended for hardcore cornering. Pricing is the BOMB here. It's cheaper than R15 and MT 15.

made by Yamaha. It's Japanese, end of the argument. Yes, there are other cool bikes in the price range. But This machine will keep running while other brands bikes are guaranteed to blow up at some point since that seems to be happening everywhere.

Pros: Well built quality & refined engine. Fat rear tyres

Cons: Boring instrument console.

Suddenly I noticed a review video on YouTube about headlight and instrument console. Yamaha shows that their focus is on money and performance. The instrument console is so odd that Hero Glamour's console is much better than this one.

Best Features: 46 teeth sprocket

Pros: looks, handling.

Cons: low hp, worst headlight, stupid instrument console

A Good Option, But strictly for Yamaha fans!

The Yamaha FZ25 is a very decent offering, a first of a kind in the segment. It is powered by a 249 cc engine which generates a maximum power of 20.69 bhp @ 8000 rpm and gives out a maximum torque of 20 Nm @ 6000 rpm. Also being priced at INR 1,19,500 ( ex-showroom Delhi ) it is a pretty affordable value for money option. Although the bike is no match for the performance of Benelli TNT 25 in the 250 cc segment, it costs 60K less then it's Benelli rival.Yamaha FZ25 is strictly for the fans of the brand and the followers of Yamaha FZ series. Other features such as LED headlamps and tail lamps add to the value of the bike. But I believe that the bike could have been made to look a little bulkier just like the classic FZ-16. All in all the bike does not disappoint either at this price.

Best Features: Digital Instrument Console, Oil cooled Fi Technology Engine, LED Headlamps

Pros: Pricing, Fi Technology, Digital Instrument Console, Mileage

Cons: Lack of an ABS, Less Than Bulky Looks, Performance not upto the mark
