Expert opinion and recommendation
The TVS iQube stands out as a refined electric scooter with a strong blend of efficiency, modern features, and urban practicality. With a smooth electric motor delivering up to 4.4 kW power and a respectable top speed of 78 km/h in the 3.5 kWh version, it caters well to city commuters looking for a quiet and emission-free ride. Its precise handling, comfortable ergonomics, and smart connectivity features like the TVS iQube app for range planning add to its convenience. The scooter’s build quality and IP67 motor rating ensure durability in Indian weather conditions. While not aimed at performance enthusiasts, it balances power and range well, suitable for daily use with an ARAI-certified range of about 145 km per charge in the 3.5 kWh ST variant. Charging options are practical, with home and station charging supported, and the fast charge time of around 3 hours up to 80%. Overall, it is an attractive alternative to petrol scooters for eco-conscious buyers focused on urban mobility rather than outright speed or long-distance touring.
The TVS iQube stands out as a compelling electric scooter for urban Indian commuters who seek an eco-friendly and cost-efficient ride. It impresses with its smooth acceleration, refined electric motor, and intuitive handling, making city navigation effortless. The build quality and modern design offer a premium feel suited for daily use. While the top speed and range are best suited for city and suburban riding rather than highway use, the scooter's quiet operation and low maintenance add excellent value. Overall, it balances performance, comfort, and technology well within the electric scooter segment, making it a smart choice for those prioritizing lower running costs and sustainability without compromising on convenience or style.
Recent news and announcements
TVS has also introduced a more affordable variant of the iQube, equipped with a 2.2kWh battery pack, providing an IDC range of 75 km and a charging time of 2 hours for 0-80%. This entry-level model is priced at Rs. 94,999 and features a 5” TFT screen, front disc brakes, and 30 liters of under-seat storage. I believe this move will help TVS tap into the budget-conscious market segment effectively.
TVS Motor Company has launched the new TVS iQube ST with a 5.1kWh battery, offering a range of 150 km on a single charge and a top speed of 82 km/h. This flagship variant features a 7” TFT display, Voice Assist, and Alexa Skillset, along with assured OTA updates for the Battery Management System (BMS) and console. The TVS iQube ST is priced competitively and comes in four attractive color options. I think this new variant is a significant step forward in electric mobility, offering both performance and range.
The TVS iQube has surpassed the 2 lakh units sales milestone within 45 months of its initial launch in January 2020. This achievement underscores the growing demand for electric scooters in India and TVSs strong presence in the market. I think this milestone is a testament to the increasing acceptance of electric vehicles in India.
TVS Motor has collaborated with Zomato to deploy 10,000 iQube electric scooters over two years. This partnership aims to enhance last-mile delivery efficiency and reduce carbon footprint. Its a great initiative that combines sustainability with practicality.
TVS iQube has been recalled for inspection of the bridge tube on select 2023 models due to a reported incident of frame breakage. This proactive measure ensures the safety and reliability of the scooters. I believe such recalls demonstrate the companys commitment to quality and customer safety.
Pricing details and changes
The TVS iQube ST 3.5 kWh variant’s ex-showroom price in India ranges approximately from ₹1,27,935 to ₹1,60,327 depending on the city and variant specifics. On-road prices in metro cities generally hover between ₹1.35 lakh to ₹1.70 lakh after factoring in GST, road tax, registration, and insurance. The higher-priced ST 5.3 kWh variant with an extended range costs up to ₹1.62 lakh ex-showroom and about ₹1.75 lakh on-road in major cities. Financing options such as two-wheeler loans are widely available. Considering the incentives under India’s EV push schemes, effective costs are further reduced, making the pricing competitive compared to other electric scooters and even some higher-end petrol scooters. The cost reflects a premium for electric technology and longer warranty benefits, appealing for those planning to invest in a low-maintenance, environment-friendly daily transport option.
In India, the TVS iQube’s ex-showroom price ranges approximately from Rs. 1.10 lakh for the base 2.2 kWh variant up to around Rs. 1.60 lakh for the ST 5.3 kWh version, depending on the city. On-road prices, which include registration, taxes, and insurance, typically add 6-8% more, so expect around Rs. 1.15 lakh to Rs. 1.70 lakh. While the higher variants with extended range come at a premium, the pricing is competitive compared to other electric scooters in its segment such as Bajaj Chetak and Ola S1 X. The government’s ongoing FAME II subsidy schemes further improve affordability. Considering the savings in fuel and maintenance, this pricing strikes a reasonable balance for urban buyers looking for long-term cost benefits and a clean commuting solution.
Fuel efficiency information
The TVS iQube delivers an effective mileage measured as range per charge rather than fuel efficiency. The 3.5 kWh version offers an ARAI-certified range of about 145 km on a single charge, which typically covers daily urban commutes comfortably. The running cost works out to roughly Rs. 0.18 per km, much lower than petrol scooters, promising excellent savings on fuel expenses. For buyers concerned about operational costs, the iQube offers an economical alternative with minimal charging costs and low maintenance, making it ideal for moderate daily mileage without range anxiety.
The TVS iQube offers a real-world range between 94 km to 145 km depending on the variant and riding conditions, with a very low running cost of around Rs. 0.25 per km. This efficiency translates into significant savings over petrol scooters when daily usage is moderate. For buyers focusing on mileage and running costs, the iQube presents a highly economical choice, especially for city commutes up to 60 km per day, eliminating frequent fuel stops while keeping maintenance costs minimal.

- Ex Showroom Price vs On Road Price
- Ex-Showroom Price is the Manufacturing Cost of the vehicle + Dealer/Seller Profit + GST (Goods and Service Tax) + Transportation Charges (from the manufacturing plant to the dealership). On the other hand, the On-Road Price is the actual cost you pay to the dealership to make the vehicle legal to run on the roads. It includes Ex-Showroom Price in your city + RTO Charges (Vehicle Registration) + One Time Road Tax + Insurance Charges. The On-Road Price also includes some optional things like if you opt for Genuine Accessories and Extended Warranty while buying a vehicle. Please note that the On-Road Price varies a lot across different states in India due to different percentage for the State Registration Charges.
