Royal Enfield Bullet 500 ABS

About
The Royal Enfield Bullet 500 ABS is a quintessential retro-style motorcycle that retains much of its classic charm while incorporating some modern amenities. The bike features a single-cylinder, 499cc engine with electronic fuel injection, producing 27.5 hp and 30.5 ft-lbs of torque. It has a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox and a wet, multi-plate clutch. The chassis is a single downtube design using the engine as a stressed member, with telescopic front forks and twin gas-charged rear shocks. The bike is known for its simplicity, with accessible mechanical components and no complex fairings or trim panels. It also comes with a self-start option, though a kickstart is still available. The Bullet 500 ABS is ideal for riders who appreciate a more involved and visceral riding experience, despite its lack of modern gizmos and safety features in older models. Its stability, torque, and classic design make it a popular choice among those seeking a unique motorcycle experience.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Royal Enfield Bullet 500 ABS is a bike that embodies a unique blend of nostalgia and practicality, but it comes with its own set of quirks and limitations. While it is not the fastest bike on the market, with a 0-60 mph time of around 12.6 seconds and only 27.5 hp, it makes up for this with its robust torque and the distinctive thump of its single-cylinder engine. The bikes handling, though different from modern machines, is quite good, and the brakes work well to modern expectations. However, the bike is plagued by significant vibrations, especially at higher speeds, and lacks modern safety features like ABS in older models, though newer versions do come with dual-channel ABS. For those who value a classic riding experience and are willing to overlook its shortcomings, the Bullet 500 can be a satisfying choice.
Price
In India, the Royal Enfield Bullet 500 ABS typically falls in the mid-range segment of motorcycles. The ex-showroom price for the Bullet 500 ABS can range from approximately 2.5 lakh to 2.8 lakh, depending on the region and any additional features or variants. On-road prices, including registration, insurance, and other costs, can go up to around 3.2 lakh to 3.5 lakh. While the pricing is competitive within its segment, its important to consider the overall cost of ownership, including maintenance and spares, which are generally more affordable for this model due to its simplicity and widespread availability of parts.

I purchased a bullet 350 ES. after 25 km it began to produce some abnormal sounds like knocking 2 metallic rods. The tappet noise already inherited cant be cleared so far by the UNSKILLED ENGINEERS OF ROYAL ENFIELD and its R&D. What a pathetic engineers they have. Even after years, they can’t make a perfect bike to satisfy millions of BULLET LOVERS.So please appoint some engineers having good technical skill and intelligence, It will be better for the company as well as customers who love BULLET

Best Features: only looks and comfort

Pros: look and comfort

Cons: worst engineering with no perfection in its working

I was always fascinating whenever I could hear or see a Bullet 500 on the road. Yes, it was my childhood dream to own one of them. Ride of this bike is very comfortable and easy, Handling is also pretty impressive as it holds very well on roads. There is a little issue with self start but I have no problem with that so far. As I am a college going student so, this bike keeps me out of the crowd. Fuel economy of this bike is okay. My dad told me to buy another bike as at this price tag you will get many options. But My love for thumb is at its peak so, I chose this as a my style statement. On specs front, it is powered by same 499cc engine. For long rides it is not a good option as it does not give desirable performance. Low fuel warning is there in the instrument panel but, it is not reliable and even don't show you exact status of fuel in fuel tank.

Best Features: Vast Service Network

Pros: Good Design and build quality, Looks and Style, Value For Money

Cons: Absence of 6th gear, Rattling Sound, No fuel gauge

The Bike I Simply Adore

RE Bullet 500 gives impressive performance and also offers a great amount of comfort on long journeys. According to me, it is probably the most affordable 500cc bike available in India. It has modern features like front disc brake and electric start. It is very responsive and powerful as compared to its younger sibling. The engine works good and gear changes are also very smooth. The seat is comfortable and backache problem is not possible. The build quality is amazing and its retro looks is very dashing and eye-catching. The front disc brake works pretty well, but the rear drum needs to be seriously improved. On the other hand, the bike lacks tachometer and trip meter which are the important features of instrument console.

Best Features: Build Quality & Economical

Pros: Looks & style, vast service network, amazing build quality, economical, comfortable riding position

Cons: Absence of 6th gear, lack of tachometer and trip meter

I got my bullet few months ago and now I have covered over 25000 kms. I must say, its a pure pleasure to ride even in the heavy traffic of Delhi. Handling the bike is not a big issue as some people think because of its built and weight. It cuts through traffic with ease. The only problem I feel in the bike is its battery, it is giving me problem while I self start it and mud guard which sometimes make noise. As far as looks, none can stop admiring the machine for its ultra masculinity, As I am the one who fall in love with its looks.

Best Features: Apperance and Style

Pros: Looks, Power, Comfort, Style

Cons: Mileage, Noisy Mud Guard, Battery
