USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Vespa VX 125 is a scooter that stands out for its elegant design, refined engineering, and overall riding experience. From my perspective, the scooters premium looks, coupled with its solid build quality and fine fit and finish, make it a compelling choice for those seeking a stylish and reliable city companion. The 125cc fuel-injected engine delivers smooth power and torque, especially in urban driving conditions, and the suspension ensures a comfortable ride even on rough roads. However, there are some drawbacks, such as the limited under-seat storage and the issue of excessive heating in the under-seat compartment. Despite these, the Vespa VX 125s excellent ergonomics, responsive braking system, and good fuel efficiency make it a strong contender in the scooter market.
Price
The Vespa VX 125 is priced competitively in the Indian market, though it leans towards the higher end of the spectrum. The ex-showroom price for the Vespa VX 125 typically ranges between 1.2 lakhs to 1.3 lakhs, depending on the region and any additional features or colors chosen. Once you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other charges, the price can go up to around 1.5 lakhs to 1.6 lakhs. While this may seem steep for some buyers, the scooters premium build, advanced features like fuel injection and combi-braking, and its overall performance justify the cost for those seeking a high-quality, stylish scooter.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 10:37 AM The Vespa VX 125 offers impressive fuel efficiency, which is a crucial factor for many Indian buyers. With a mileage of around 40-45 kmliter, this scooter is economical for daily commuting. Vespa Vespa VX 125 Review

Quick Review by Maxabout Team

Vespa VX 125 is the newer and sportier variant of earlier released Vespa LX 125. It is an effort by Piaggio to start a new segment of scooters in Indian market.

The exterior of Vespa VX 125 has a distinctive retro look with whole steel body in a single shiny piece, new slightly raised saddle handle bar with better grip, chrome finished round front headlight and rear view mirrors, chrome bar laden front mudguard, chrome surrounded small tail light, beige seat option, more detailed and stylish chromed grab rail, MRF Zapper nylo-grip tires with 10-inch three spoke alloy wheels, side panels having sharp lines and clear lens in-built turn indicators at front and at back. It has a simple yet trendy revised instrument cluster with black dials for analogue speedometer, analogue odometer and analogue fuel gauge along with a digital clock with buttons to set the time self accordingly.

Vespa VX 125 offers a comfortable ride with comfy seats, quality plastic buttons, ample space for legroom on floor board, nicely positioned handle bar and clear instrument panel. It also offers good storage capacity with a large in-built lockable glove box, under seat storage space and a bag hook above its floor board.

Vespa VX 125 has a good 125cc air-cooled single-cylinder three-valve 4-stroke engine with a maximum power of 10.06 bhp at 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 10.6 Nm at 6000 rpm with continuous variable transmission giving the top speed of almost 90 kmph and reaches 0-60 kmph mark in almost 10 seconds. It has good power to weight ratio despite of its 114kgs weight, satisfactory refinement levels and very less noise and vibration on high speeds.

Vespa VX 125 returns a good mileage of around 60 kmpl on the highways and about 42-46 kmpl in the cities. Its solid steel body and clear lens headlight and tail light serves as good safety features. It has 200mm disk brake with a single pot calliper at front and 140mm drum brake at rear.

The suspension system consists of a single side shock absorber at front and mono shock absorber at rear. It provides a safe ride and handling for Indian roads with nicely positioned handle bar, wheelbase of 1290mm and superior speed. The ex-showroom price of Vespa VX 125 in Delhi is INR 71380.00 (approx.) which may vary in other places slightly.

Overall, this scooter is not for general masses due to its steep but has good fuel economy, performance, speed, safety and handling and is surely for people who want attention, style and exclusivity. Vespa VX 125 is available in six eye-catching shades: Vibrante Rosa (Pink), Portovenere Verde (Sky Blue), Monte Bianco (White), Rosso Dragon (Red), Giallo Lime (Yellow), Midnight Blue.

I purchased this bike a few months ago. Here are the pros and cons
Pros:
1. Very courteous showroom employees.
2. Fabulous paint finish.
3. Feels solid and stable specially on bends.
4. The call centre never misses to call and take feed back after every service.
5. No rattling/vibration.
6. Design stands out in a crowd.

Cons:
1. Rs. 82,000 (with basic accessories on road) is expensive.
2. The headlight (high beam) points upwards. After having turned the adjustment screw to the maximum the problem still persists. That's the best the showroom can do.
3. The mileage on the highway progressed from 30 kmpl in the first month to around 40 today. I decided to leave the factory fuel setting as is rather than having the showroom mechanic tinker with it in an effort to improve mileage(and possibly reduce pick up).
4. Only gloves fit in the tiny front storage space.

I think the 150cc, front & rear disc brake 'Hero ZIR' will definitely give this scooter a run for its money. All that's needed for the competition is 125cc or more, tubeless tyres, front disc brake, good storage, build quality(no noisy plastic panels) and excellent service centres.
