Honda has announced a recall for the Gold Wing Tour in India due to a faulty fastening bolt in the primary drive gear, which could cause the engine to stall. The recall affects motorcycles manufactured between 2018 and 2021, and the replacement procedure will start in the third week of December at Honda Big Wing dealerships. I think this proactive step by Honda is crucial for maintaining customer trust and safety.

The 2024 Honda Gold Wing remains largely unchanged, continuing to feature its powerful 1833cc six-cylinder engine, double-wishbone front suspension, and optional seven-speed automatic DCT gearbox. The bike also includes advanced features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a sophisticated audio system. I believe the lack of significant updates is a testament to the Gold Wings already robust design and capabilities.

Honda has filed a patent for an auto-adjusting windshield system for the next-generation Gold Wing, set to be introduced possibly for the 50th anniversary in 2025. This system will use cameras, a microphone, and the bikes ECU to adapt the windshield to different riding scenarios, enhancing rider comfort and communication. This innovation sounds like a game-changer for long-distance touring.

Honda updated the Gold Wings technology in 2020, making it compatible with Android Auto for models from 2018 onwards. The Honda Gold Wing features a horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine that is famously smooth and powerful. The latest version of this engine is 13 pounds lighter than previous generations, contributing to better handling and performance. I think this engine design is one of the key factors behind the Gold Wings success.

The Gold Wings advanced meters provide a wealth of information to the rider, including vehicle and engine speed, ride mode, fuel level, and even selected phone apps linked through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. This comprehensive dashboard makes long-distance touring more convenient and enjoyable.

Hondas Gold Wing is equipped with a state-of-the-art audio system that includes Bluetooth headset compatibility, allowing riders to make or answer phone calls without removing their helmets. The Gold Wings double-wishbone front suspension and combined Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) ensure excellent handling and stopping power on various road conditions. These features have made the Gold Wing a favorite among long-distance tourers. I think these safety and performance enhancements are essential for a bike in this category.

Ex Showroom Price vs On Road Price | Ex-Showroom Price is the Manufacturing Cost of the vehicle + Dealer/Seller Profit + GST (Goods and Service Tax) + Transportation Charges (from the manufacturing plant to the dealership). On the other hand, the On-Road Price is the actual cost you pay to the dealership to make the vehicle legal to run on the roads. It includes Ex-Showroom Price in your city + RTO Charges (Vehicle Registration) + One Time Road Tax + Insurance Charges. The On-Road Price also includes some optional things like if you opt for Genuine Accessories and Extended Warranty while buying a vehicle. Please note that the On-Road Price varies a lot across different states in India due to different percentage for the State Registration Charges. |
