Honda CB400X STD

About
The Honda CB400X STD is an adventure-tourer bike that shares many design elements with its larger sibling, the CB500X. It features a 399cc parallel-twin engine with a DOHC, 8-valve configuration, producing 46 PS at 9,500 rpm and 37 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. The bike comes with a six-speed transmission and chain drive, along with dual-channel ABS for enhanced safety. The suspension includes a 41mm Showa USP Fork at the front and a preload-adjustable Showa Mono Shock at the rear, both offering 120mm of travel. The bike also boasts full LED lights, a two-step adjustable windscreen, and seven-spoke wheels. With a seat height of 800mm and a weight of around 195kg, it is designed to be accessible and comfortable for a wide range of riders. The CB400X also features a slipper clutch and adjustable levers, making it a well-rounded package for both on-road and off-road adventures.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Honda CB400X STD is a versatile and practical adventure bike that, although not available in the Indian market, would be an excellent addition for those seeking a balance between on-road comfort and off-road capability. The bikes 399cc parallel-twin engine, producing 46 PS and 37 Nm of torque, is adequate for both city riding and light adventure tours. The fully digital instrument panel, two-step adjustable windscreen, and seven-spoke wheels add to its appeal. However, the lack of significant wind protection and the rear brakes responsiveness might be minor drawbacks. Overall, it is a user-friendly motorcycle, ideal for beginners and experienced riders alike, offering a comfortable ride and good fuel economy.
Price
The Honda CB400X STD has not been officially launched in India, which means there is no ex-showroom or on-road price available for this model in the Indian market. Given the recent launch of the CB500X in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 6.87 lakh, it is unlikely that Honda will introduce the CB400X at a marginally lower price, as it could cannibalize sales of the higher-capacity model. If it were to be launched, one could expect a price slightly lower than the CB500X, but this remains speculative.
Latest Updates
Friday, 29 December 2023 04:44 PM Honda is likely to release an instructional vehicle version of the CB400X in April 2024, which could replace the discontinued CB400 SuperFour learners vehicle. This move suggests Hondas commitment to providing training vehicles that are both safe and capable. I think this will be a great option for new riders looking to hone their skills.
Monday, 18 December 2023 10:53 AM In 2023, there were rumors of a new CB400 model launching in 2025, featuring Hondas 400cc 4-cylinder engine, although this is not confirmed for the CB400X specifically. If true, it could signify a significant update to Hondas 400cc lineup. I believe this could be an exciting development for fans of Hondas smaller engines.

Monday, 29 June 2020 09:37 PM Despite its updates, the Honda CB400X remains exclusive to the Japanese market. This has led to speculation about whether similar updates will be applied to the CB500X, which is available in other regions like the Philippines. I think its likely well see these updates reflected in other models soon.
Monday, 29 June 2020 10:22 AM The CB400X faces stiff competition from other adventure tourers like the Royal Enfield Himalayan, KTM 390 Adventure, and Benelli TRK 502. Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 04:22 PM The Honda CB400X STD offers impressive fuel economy, which is a significant factor for buyers concerned about running costs. With a claimed fuel efficiency of around 27.4 kilometers per liter, and a 17-liter tank capacity that can cover approximately 460 kilometers, this bike is frugal and suitable for long-distance tours. This mileage makes it an attractive option for those who prioritize fuel efficiency without compromising on performance.
