Hero Passion Pro 110 Review

26 Dec, 2022 05:09 PM

Detailed Review by Maxabout Team

Overview

The Hero Passion, like the Splendor, has had a long and successful career as a more premium alternative to its utilitarian sibling. Hero has prepared the Passion Pro BS6 for its second season with cosmetic and feature updates, and a larger fuel-injected heart.

The Passion has always been Hero Motocorp's more premium commuter brand. It offers stylish-looking motorcycles alongside the more utilitarian Splendor series. And, in the 19 years that it has been on the market, the Hero Passion has undergone a few revisions and variants.

Hero Passion Pro 110 Design and Style

2023 Hero Passion Pro appears to be more sophisticated and premium than rugged. And the model, which gets a complete cosmetic makeover, is quite attractive for a 110cc commuter. The redesigned headlamp cowl with faux air intakes is a nice touch, as are the angular tank extensions. It also gets a redesigned rear section with a new tail lamp design.

The Passion Pro's overall styling is enhanced by its five bold colour options and triple-tone graphics. Now, the paint quality is acceptable, as is the quality of the plastic used throughout the motorcycle. However, the same cannot be said about the fit and finish. The seat fitment is flimsy, with a noticeable gap between it and the bodywork.

The Passion Pro is now larger in size than its predecessor. The new fuel tank also holds 1.8 litres more fuel, resulting in fewer trips to the gas station.

Hero Passion Pro 110 Engine and Gearbox

The new BS6-compliant motor has a larger 113cc displacement compared to the previous 109.51cc, it also has fuel injection. It has 0.4 PS less power but 0.89 Nm more torque at the same engine revs. With the increased torque, the new motorcycle is 1kg lighter than its BS4 predecessor. This means it feels a little peppier and can reach 80 km/h.

Thanks to its strong mid-range acceleration, the Passion Pro BS6 has faster in-gear roll-on times. The engine has excellent tractability, allowing you to smooth speed up from as low as 25 km/h in 5th gear. Here, Auto Sail technology comes in handy. This technology is comparable to TVS's Glide Through Traffic (GTT). It raises the revs at low speeds and keeps the engine from stalling. But the new setup isn't as smooth as the ones seen on TVS bikes. You can feel the choppiness when releasing the clutch and accelerating at lower speeds.

In the city, Hero's Start Stop technology assists the torquey motor. This feature turns off the engine after more than 3 seconds of standing in traffic in neutral. Pulling in the clutch brings the engine back to life and allows you to begin moving. The feature saves fuel and improves city fuel efficiency, which is comparable to BS4 110cc motorcycles. The tall gearing allows the Passion Pro BS6 to run at highway speeds of 60 to 70 km/h while maintaining fuel efficiency. The difference between highway and city mileage is marginal, and the new bike has impressive fuel efficiency. A 10-litre fuel tank allows for a theoretical range of 700km.

The engine isn't particularly refined, and at speeds around 55 km/h, you can feel vibrations through the fuel tank and footpegs. It then fades and reappears at around 80 km/h, close to the top speed of the Passion Pro BS6.

Hero Passion Pro 110 Suspension, Brakes and Tyres

The new Passion Pro features a diamond-shaped frame and longer travel suspension. The latter results in a ground clearance of 180mm, which is 15mm higher than before. The increased clearance allows the Passion Pro BS6 to clear even poorly designed speed breakers. The motorcycle glides through road undulations and feels pliant with the new suspension setup. Except when negotiating sharp bumps and potholes, where it feels a little harsh.

The longer wheelbase assists the Passion Pro BS6 in maintaining good stability at higher speeds. In city riding, the Hero commuter provides agile handling and is easy to manoeuvre through traffic gaps. The MRF tyres perform well on dry roads but do not inspire confidence when riding in wet conditions. While the braking numbers are comparable to the competition, the brake feedback is commendable. The motorcycle feels stable under hard braking, and the front disc brake has a strong and progressive bite.

Key Features of Hero Passion Pro 110

2023 Hero Passion Pro still has a halogen headlamp. This new headlamp assembly has a good spread and throw and is bright enough to illuminate dark alleyways. It features a semi-digital instrument panel with an analogue speedometer. It has digital readouts for the fuel level, odometer, and trip metre. The start-stop switch has been relocated from the right side switchgear to next to the instrument console. On the previous bike, you would frequently switch off the i3S by mistaking it for the engine on/off switch. Aside from i3S, the Passion Pro gains another useful feature called Auto Sail technology.

Top Speed and Mileage of Hero Passion Pro 110

The mileage of the new Hero Passion Pro 110 is 60 km/l (approximate). The 113cc commuter motorcycle accelerates from 0 to 60 km/h in approximately 8 seconds. The top speed of the Hero Passion Pro 110 is 90 km/h (real top speed figure).

Hero Passion Pro 110 Competitors

2023 Hero Passion Pro 110 competes with Bajaj CT 110, Bajaj Platina 110, Honda CD 110 Dream, Honda Livo 110, TVS Radeon 110, and TVS Victor 110 in the Indian market.

Conclusion

2023 Hero Passion Pro's target audience has not changed with the latest update. It is still aimed at people who want to commute in style. But with the new styling, it has a lot more appeal than before. The Passion Pro has a tractable and efficient motor, comfortable seating, and nimble handling. And the competitive pricing makes it a viable option in its category. The only disadvantage is the product's finish. It can be seen in the poor quality of the seat, rusting on components, and the throaty-sounding engine. It may turn potential buyers away from its rivals, offering better refinement and quality.
