Hero Passion XTEC
General information and overview
The Hero Passion XTEC is a feature-rich commuter motorcycle designed to cater to the needs of urban riders in India. It comes with a 113cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 9 bhp and 9.79 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The bike boasts a new LED headlight, a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity for SMS and call alerts, and a side-stand engine cut-off sensor. The design includes elements like a tinted flyscreen, body-coloured headlight cowl, and a single-piece saddle, giving it a modern and stylish look. The suspension is handled by conventional telescopic forks and dual rear shocks, while braking options include drum units or a front disc brake with a combined braking system. Overall, the Passion XTEC is a well-rounded package that combines style, comfort, and technology, making it a viable option for daily commuting in India.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Hero Passion XTEC is a solid contender in the 110cc commuter motorcycle segment in India, offering a balance of style, comfort, and features. While it excels in areas such as mileage, with owners reporting an average of 58 kmpl, and comfort, especially for single users, it does have some drawbacks. The bikes engine can be prone to cutting off at low RPM, and some users have reported issues with the gearbox smoothness and braking performance. However, the addition of features like Bluetooth connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, and the side-stand engine cut-off sensor enhance its appeal. Overall, it is a good choice for those seeking a stylish and fuel-efficient commuter bike, but potential buyers should be aware of the potential issues with engine stability and braking.
Recent news and announcements
The Hero Passion XTEC has been launched with two variants, drum and disc, priced at Rs 74,590 and Rs 78,990 respectively, ex-showroom in Delhi. This new model features a 110cc BS-6 compliant engine, producing 9 bhp and 9.79 Nm of torque, along with advanced features like a full digital speedometer console with Bluetooth connectivity and a side-stand engine cut-off. I believe these features make it a compelling option for young riders looking for a blend of performance and convenience.
The bike comes with a full digital instrument cluster that includes Bluetooth connectivity, allowing riders to receive call and SMS alerts, and also features a built-in mobile charger and a low fuel indicator. These modern amenities are aimed at providing a new-age riding experience. I think the integration of these tech features is a great move to keep riders connected on the go.
Hero MotoCorp has equipped the Passion XTEC with a range of safety features, including a side-stand visual indication, side-stand engine cut-off, and the option of disc brakes with a Combi Braking System (CBS). These enhancements are designed to ensure utmost safety for both the rider and the pillion. I think these safety features are a significant step forward in making commuter bikes safer.
The Hero Passion XTEC boasts a new LED projector headlamp, which offers superior illumination and an extended beam range, enhancing visibility on the road. Additionally, it features a muscular fuel tank and a comfortable, ergonomic seat designed for both the rider and the pillion. I believe the LED headlamp is a game-changer for night rides, making it much safer.
The Hero Passion XTEC is available in three color options: Black With Force Silver, Black With Polestar Blue, and Candy Blazing Red. This variety in colors, along with its sporty design elements like a tinted flyscreen and body-colored headlight cowl, makes it visually appealing. I believe the color options will help attract a wider range of buyers.

Expert Verdict
Professional reviews and expert opinions on Hero Passion XTEC
As part of its aggressive product revitalization strategy, Hero MotoCorp recently launched the Passion Pro XTEC in the Indian market. The new XTEC variants of the motorcycle include a few new features as well as some cosmetic changes.
As part of its aggressive product revitalization strategy, Hero MotoCorp recently launched the Passion Pro XTEC in the Indian market. The new XTEC variants of the motorcycle include a few new features as well as some cosmetic changes.
In terms of design, the new Hero Passion XTEC is virtually identical to its predecessors. It does, however, have updated graphics on the body panels and monochromatic colours. The motorcycle receives a segment-first projector LED headlamp with an H-shaped LED DRL. There is also 3D 'Passion' branding in chrome, as well as red rim tapes and five-spoke alloys.
With these features, it is also the first bike in its class. According to the company, the headlamp unit now has a 12 per cent longer beam than the old halogen lamp, which also improves the visual appeal of the bike and supports 3D branding and rim tape. On cloudy, dark, or rainy days, this light will improve visibility.
The new Hero Passion XTEC is powered by the same 113cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke, FI engine that powers the standard Passion Pro. This motor produces a peak torque of 9.79 Nm at 5000 rpm and a maximum power of 6.73 kW (9.02 bhp) at 7500 rpm. The engine is coupled to a 4-speed constant mesh transmission with a wet multi-plate clutch system. It also includes Hero's patented i3S technology, which should aid in fuel efficiency.
The motorcycle uses the same cycle parts as before, has the same diamond frame as the standard model, and even the same suspension system. The Hero Passion Xtec is equipped with 30mm conventional telescopic forks in the front and dual shock absorbers in the rear. The motorcycle is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels and tubeless tyres on both ends.
The fully digital, backlit instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity is one of the most noticeable differences between the Passion and the standard Passion. This display enables a slew of features such as SMS and call alerts, real-time mileage tracking, a low-fuel warning light, and service reminders. Once paired, it can also display your phone's battery level, and if it's low, you can plug it into the integrated USB port.
A side-stand indicator and a side-stand cut-off system, which switches the engine off if the side stand is engaged, are among the other useful features of the XTEC. The option of a front disc brake paired with CBS adds to the safety factor (Combined Braking System). Only a few cosmetic differences, such as new rim tape and branding, as well as the full-LED headlamp, distinguish the standard version from the XTEC.
The Hero Passion Xtec has a top speed of 90 km/h (real top speed figure) and a fuel economy of approximately 60 km/l. Hero sells the Passion Xtec in two variants: the Passion Xtec Drum Self Cast, which costs Rs 74,590 and the Passion Xtec Disc Self Cast, which costs Rs 78,990. Hero Passion Xtec comes in three colourways: Candy Blazing Red, Black with Force Silver, and Black with Polestar Blue. The Passion XTEC competes with the Bajaj Platina, Honda Livo, TVS Radeon, Hero Splendor i-Smart, and others.
