Our take on this /// Verdict
The Hero Destini 125 has transformed into a serious contender in the 125cc scooter segment with its recent updates. My experience with the scooter has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly noting its composed ride quality, which handles even the bigger bumps with ease. The engine, though not the quickest, is refined and calibrated for better fuel efficiency, making it a practical choice. The extensive feature list, including the i3S technology for improved mileage, is another significant advantage. However, there are some minor gripes, such as the polarising rear design and the small underseat storage area. Overall, the Destini 125 offers a balanced package of comfort, performance, and features, making it a worthy consideration for anyone looking for a reliable family scooter.
Price
The pricing of the Hero Destini 125 is competitive and appealing. The LX variant starts at around Rs 54,650 (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the VX variant is priced at Rs 57,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). When you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other charges, the prices would likely be in the range of Rs 65,000 to Rs 70,000, depending on the state and local taxes. Given the features, performance, and overall value it offers, the Destini 125 is priced very attractively, making it a strong contender in its segment.
2024 Hero Destini 125 on road price is around Rs 93,775.

Detailed Review by Maxabout Team

Overview

The new Hero Destini 125 is based on the company's Hero Duet 125, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. Hero Motocorp has recently updated the current-gen model of the 125cc Destini scooter and it now comes with the Hero Connect feature. In the Hero Connect app, customers will get many features like Topal Alert, All Trip Information, Live Vehicle Tracking, Tow Alert, Geo-Fence Alert, Hero Locate, Speed ??Alert Features. Let us tell you that apart from Destini 125, customers get Hero Connect features in Xtreme 160R, Xpulse 200, Pleasure Plus and Pleasure Plus Platinum.

Design and Style

2024 Hero Destini 125cc comes with an elegant design and a host of features. The front of the Hero Destini 125 sports a premium design with a V-shaped chrome that is paired with a clear lens indicator. On the other hand, the front cowl has been kept in dual-tone colour with a black insert above the headlamp. Also, its body-coloured mirrors further enhance the beauty of the scooter.

At the same time, there is a chrome line on the side and Destiny branding on the side panel. Its side panel has been integrated with the tail light. Also, the rear of the scooter gets a silver grab rail, tapered end with signature tail light, fuel filler cap and chrome cover for the exhaust muffler. Also, its dual-tone seat adds more beauty to the scooter's look. The scooter gets a multi-function key slot that opens the external fuel-filler cap and under-seat storage, which is 19 liters.

New Hero Destini 125cc engine is based on the 110cc engine, which can also be seen in Duet and Maestro. Its engine is good and gives good mileage. It has enough power for the daily commute, due to which it provides a comfortable journey. The 3D badge has been used for premium touch in Destiny and the company has worked very well on its fitting and finishing level. Not only this, rich paint quality has been used in it. The scooter is covered with metal body panels which are liked by most of the customers.

Engine and Gearbox

2024 Hero Destini 125 is powered by a 124.6cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine that produces 9 HP at 7,000 rpm and 10.4 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. Its engine is made available with a CVT gearbox.

Instrument Console

New Destini 125 features a semi-digital instrument console along with some basic digital readouts for fuel level, trip log, and odometer. Apart from this, a side-stand indicator has also been given, which is quite useful.

Brakes, Suspension and Tyres

The 10-inch wheels clothed in 90/100 size tyres, mounted on the scooter give it a very good grip in traffic. Telescopic forks at the front and mono-shock at the rear have been given. Combined Braking System (CBS) is standard with drum brakes on both the tires of the Destini 125. However, the company has not given a disc brake option for the front tyre. We miss the disc brakes here according to the 125cc scooter.

Key Features

Speaking of the offered key features, the new Hero Destini comes loaded with Hero Xsens Technology, i3s Technology, External Fuel Filler, Service Reminder, Mobile Charging Port, Boot Light and Combination Lock System to mention a few.

Top Speed, Acceleration and Mileage

The scooter accelerates from 0-60kmph in around 8 seconds and can reach the top speed of 90kmph approximately. Hero Destini 125 features i3S (Idle-Start-Stop) technology, which automatically shuts down the engine when not in use. Its i3S technology helps in increasing the mileage of the scooter. The Destini 125 gives an average mileage of around 50-55 kmpl depending on the riding conditions.

Colour Options

Coming to the colour options, the 2024 Hero Destini 125 is available in five amazing colours- Panther Black, Pearl Silver White, Chestnut Bronze, Noble Red, Matte Grey Silver.

Price Range

2024 Hero Destini 125 on-road price is Rs 81,663 in Delhi, Rs 84,430 in Mumbai, Rs 82,656 in Kolkata and Rs 83,721 in Chennai. The prices listed here are approximations, and we recommend that you contact your local Hero dealership for an actual on-road pricing quotation in your location.

Ex-showroom Price & On-Road Price

Ex-Showroom Price is the Manufacturing Cost of the vehicle + Dealer/Seller Profit + GST (Goods and Service Tax) + Transportation Charges (from the manufacturing plant to the dealership). On the other hand, the On-Road Price is the actual cost you pay to the dealership to make the vehicle legal to run on the roads. It includes Ex-Showroom Price in your city + RTO Charges (Vehicle Registration) + One Time Road Tax + Insurance Charges. The On-Road Price also includes some optional things like if you opt for Genuine Accessories and Extended Warranty while buying a vehicle. Please note that the On-Road Price varies a lot across different states in India due to different percentages for the State Registration Charges.

Competitors

New Hero Destini 125 is in competition with the Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access 125, TVS NTorq 125, Aprilia SR 125, TVS Jupiter 125 and Yamaha Fascino 125.

Verdict- Should You Buy it?

The biggest USP of new Hero Destini is its price, which has been kept by the company at Rs 70,950 (ex-showroom Delhi). This price is for its base variant and it is proving to be the cheapest scooter in the list of 125cc scooters sold in India. At such a price, the company is offering a lot of features through the Destini 125 and it can really be a profitable deal. The Hero Destini 125cc engine is based on the 110cc engine, which can also be seen in Duet and Maestro. Its engine is good and gives good mileage. It has enough power for the daily commute, due to which it provides a comfortable journey. If you are planning to buy a premium scooter and have a tight budget, then Hero Destini 125 could be your best option.

Overall Good Vehicle

It's very good when it comes to performance and also I think the mileage provided by this scooter is also amazing. There are no such big grievances about this scooter. The seating at the back is also something to be appreciated. The only issue with this scooter that I have found so far is that it doesn't have any side stand that actually degrades the experience, this needs to be taken into consideration by the makers.
