It was first showcased as a concept model at 2012 Delhi Auto Expo and now the company pulled the curtains off from its prototype model. The production model will reach in the market by 2015 and will work on both petrol and electricity. Let's see what this scooter has got in detail.
Design and Style
Hero Leap Hybrid Concept shows a brilliant combination of eco-friendly initiative, innovative features, advanced technology and high fuel economy. It has got LED projector headlight, position lamp and stop light, a steel tubular frame, low center of gravity for improved agility, FEA optimized wheel design for low weight and great strength, regenerating braking system, a high-tech and life-long lasting toothed final belt drive with reinforced super strength fiber, a maintenance free battery, self-start, body colored rear view mirrors on the handlebar, front and rear side turn indicators, LED tail light, 13-inch alloy wheel with 110/70 tire at front and 11-inch alloy wheel with 120/70 tyre at rear, a step-up seat and a rear grab handle. It has an instrument panel with a digital fuel gauge and speedometer, a pass light, a stand alarm and a low fuel, oil and battery indicators.
Dimensions and Weight
It has a length of 1884mm, a width of 850mm and a height of 1162mm as its dimensions and has a large wheelbase of 1347mm for a stable ride. It has a good ground clearance of 140mm for a bump-free ride and a kerb weight of 140kgs along with a fuel tank capacity of 3liters.
Engine
Hero Leap Hybrid Concept has got an all-new 124cc, air-cooled, petrol engine which works in conjunction with an 8kW electric traction motor, Li-Ion batteries and an on-board generator. The PMAC provides an outstanding torque figure of 60Nm even from a standstill along with a top speed of 100kmph while running on a range extender petrol engine. Also, it has a combined range of over 340kms on electric and petrol modes while providing a stunning fuel economy of almost 100kmpl.
Suspension and Braking System
Hero Leap Hybrid Concept has got a 240mm diameter single disc brake at front and 130mm diameter drum brake at rear. The suspension system consists of telescopic forks at front and unit swing with hydraulic dampers at rear. There is no information yet regarding its variants, shades, price and availability except that more of its features will be introduced at Delhi Auto Expo in February 2014 and the bike will probably arrive in the market by 2015.
