Hero Achiever 150 (Drum Brake)
About
The Hero Achiever 150 is a well-rounded commuter bike that ticks many boxes for the average Indian rider. Powered by a 149cc single cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled engine, it produces 13.4 PS at 8000 rpm and 12.8 Nm at 5000 rpm, mated to a smooth five-speed transmission. The bike features an optional disc brake setup upfront, though the drum brake variant is more affordable and still effective. The Achiever 150 also boasts Heros i3S technology, which helps in improving fuel efficiency by automatically shutting off the engine when the bike is idle for a few seconds. The suspension, though slightly stiffer, handles road imperfections well, and the ground clearance is adequate for Indian road conditions. With a fuel tank capacity of 13 liters and a kerb weight of around 139 kg, the Achiever 150 offers a balanced ride, making it suitable for both city and highway use. Its competitive pricing and feature set make it a strong contender in the 150cc segment.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Hero Achiever 150, particularly the drum brake variant, is a solid choice for those seeking a practical and reliable commuter bike. My experience with this bike has been quite positive, especially in terms of its refined engine and smooth gear shifts. The 149cc single cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled motor produces 13.4 PS at 8000 rpm and 12.8 Nm at 5000 rpm, which is more than adequate for city riding and occasional highway jaunts. The bikes NVH levels are commendably low, and the absence of engine knocking even at low revs makes it a joy to ride in peak hour traffic. While the suspension is slightly on the stiffer side, it handles minor road imperfections well. However, the front brake lever requires a bit more squeeze than ideal, though the bite is satisfactory once applied. Overall, the Achiever 150 offers great value for money, making it a compelling option in its segment.
Price
The Hero Achiever 150 with drum brakes is priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price for this variant is around Rs 61,800. When you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other miscellaneous charges, the price can go up to approximately Rs 70,000 to Rs 75,000, depending on the state and local taxes. This pricing makes the Achiever 150 an attractive option compared to other bikes in the 150cc segment, such as the Pulsar 150 and the Unicorn 150, which are priced higher. The cost savings, combined with the bikes features and performance, make it a great value-for-money proposition.

The Hero Achiever 150, specifically the drum brake variant, has been discontinued by Hero MotoCorp. This decision comes as the company focuses on other models and updates in their lineup. The Achiever 150 was known for its fuel-efficient i3S technology and its competitive pricing at Rs. 61,800 ex-showroom. I believe this discontinuation might be a loss for those looking for an affordable and reliable commuter bike.

The bike featured a 149.1 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, producing 13.4 HP and 12.8 Nm of torque. The Hero Achiever 150 was equipped with several notable features, including the i3S (idle stop-start system) technology, which helped in saving fuel by automatically switching off the engine when idle. The bike also came with a fully analogue instrument cluster, alloy wheels, and tubeless tyres. The design included a curvy headlamp with bikini fairing and a muscular fuel tank. I believe these features made the Achiever 150 a practical and stylish option for urban and rural riders alike.

At the time of its launch, the Hero Achiever 150 was positioned to compete with other 150cc commuter bikes like the Bajaj Pulsar 150, Honda CB Unicorn 150, and Bajaj V15. The Achiever 150 offered a competitive price point and features like automatic headlamp on (AHO) and new graphics, making it a strong contender in the market. I think the Achiever 150 held its ground well against its competitors in terms of value for money.

The Hero Achiever 150 had a claimed mileage of 50 kmpl, which was a significant selling point for commuters looking to save on fuel costs. User Reviews for Hero Achiever (2017)
Reviews Submitted by Maxabout Community
First, the back tire should be bigger. I don't know why Hero is concentrating on entry level bikes. They could have done better with 150cc bikes.
Best Features: Retro styled meter console
Pros: Impressive acceleration
Cons: Build quality
The refinement of the engine is also good. In terms of performance, it never struggles on the highway and city. Still, more aggression needed here.
Best Features: Best mileage from a 150cc bike!
Pros: mileage, i3s, comfort, refinement
Cons: looks, plastic quality
Achiever 150 is better than Honda Unicorn and Bajaj Pulsar and has excellent mileage. I am very happy with this bike.
Best Features: i3s, mileage, comfort, build
Pros: engine, mileage, price, comfort
Cons: I feel their is no negative feature
THE BEST 150cc BIKE IN THIS SEGMENT @ OF 125 CC BIKE. IT'S A GENTLE BIKE FOR PURE GENTLEMAN, I HAVE TAKEN THIS BIKE 2 MONTHS BACK & I AM FULLY SATISFIED. PREVIOUSLY I WAS LOOKING FOR APACHE. BUT MY FATHER WAS NOT AGREE TO BUY THAT BIKE AS BECAUSE ONE OF HIS FRIEND IS SUFFERING WITH APACHE (160cc). SO HE GIVEN ME OPTION XTREME. BUT I PERSONALLY DON'T LIKE XTREME BECAUSE HERO IS CHANGING THIS BIKE FREQUENTLY & ITS LOOKS. SO I WENT FOR ACHIEVER. AND I THINK I WAS PERFECTLY RIGHT CHOOSING ACHIEVER. I WILL SUGGEST ALL YOUNG STARS GO FOR THIS BIKE & ENJOY THE HEROISM FROM HERO.
Best Features: COMPACT BIKE
