Our take on this /// Verdict
The Ducati DesertX Rally is a masterpiece for those who crave the ultimate off-road adventure. With its 937cc Testastretta 11 L-twin engine producing 110 hp and 92 Nm of torque, this bike is a powerhouse designed to tackle the toughest terrains. The KYB suspension, with its closed cartridge forks and longer travel, provides impeccable control and stability, making it feel like a magic carpet ride even on the roughest roads. The bikes adaptability, with six riding modes including Rally and Enduro, allows for seamless transitions between different terrains. While it may be top-heavy and require some effort to lean into corners, the grip and stability it offers are unparalleled. My only minor complaints are the gear spacing and the user interface on the dash, but these hardly detract from the overall excellence of the DesertX Rally. It is undoubtedly the best road-legal big adventure bike Ive ever ridden off-road, and for those willing to invest, it is well worth the price.
Price
In India, the Ducati DesertX Rally comes with a significant price tag, reflecting its high-end components and superior performance. The ex-showroom price is approximately 23,70,800. When you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other charges, the total can easily exceed 27 lakh. While this is a substantial investment, the quality and capability of the DesertX Rally justify the cost. The premium pricing is due to the advanced suspension, robust off-road wheels, and the array of electronic rider aids. For serious adventure riders who demand the best, the DesertX Rallys price is a reflection of its elite status in the market.

Ducati has confirmed that the new DesertX Rally will be put to the test at the demanding NORRA Mexican 1000, with experienced riders Alexander Smith and Steve Kamrad piloting the race-prepped bikes in the Pro Rally Class. This event will showcase the bikes off-road capabilities and durability. I think this is a great way to demonstrate the DesertX Rallys performance in real-world extreme conditions.

The 2024 Ducati DesertX Rally features significant upgrades, including a 48mm KYB closed-cartridge fork and a 46mm KYB rear shock, both with adjustable compression and rebound. The suspension travel has been increased to 250mm at the front and 240mm at the rear. I believe these enhancements make the DesertX Rally one of the most capable off-road bikes in its class.

Ducati unveiled the 2024 DesertX Rally, highlighting its new wheels with lighter and stronger Takasago Excel rims, which reduce unsprung weight by 0.5 kilograms. The bike also comes with Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires and an optional auxiliary fuel tank for extended range. I think the attention to detail in these upgrades shows Ducatis commitment to off-road performance.

The DesertX Rally is powered by Ducati’s 937cc Testastretta 11-degree engine, producing 110 horsepower and 68 lb-ft of torque. The bike also features a new high front mudguard, machined fork clamps, and adjustable brake and shift pedals. I believe the combination of power and specialized components makes this bike a serious contender in the adventure bike market.

Ducatis collaboration with five-time enduro world champion Antoine Meo played a crucial role in developing the DesertX Rally. Meo helped fine-tune the bikes off-road capabilities, including the gear ratios and suspension settings. I think Meos involvement adds a level of credibility and performance to the DesertX Rally that is hard to match.
Mileage
Monday, 18 November 2024 02:05 PM
The mileage of the Ducati DesertX Rally is not its strongest suit, but it is reasonable given its powerful engine and off-road focus. According to ARAI, the bike offers a mileage of about 17.8 kmpl. In real-world conditions, especially when riding off-road or aggressively, this figure can vary. However, for a bike designed to conquer challenging terrains rather than optimize fuel efficiency, this mileage is acceptable. If youre planning long-distance adventures, the 21-litre fuel tank helps in extending the range, making it more practical for those who need to cover significant distances without frequent fuel stops.
