Our take on this /// Verdict
The Bajaj Eliminator 175, a product of the collaboration between Bajaj and Kawasaki, is a unique offering in the Indian market, particularly during its time of release. While it boasts a stylish cruiser design with a low-slung stance and flat handlebar, its performance is somewhat mixed. The 173.9cc single-cylinder engine, though refined, produces only 15.2bhp and 13.7Nm of torque, which some users have found underpowered for a cruiser. However, its reliability and low maintenance costs are significant positives, with many owners reporting trouble-free rides over long periods. The bikes ergonomics, with a low seat height, make it accessible to riders of shorter stature. Overall, its a good option for those seeking a cruiser experience without the high power expectations, but it may not satisfy those looking for more robust performance.
Price
The Bajaj Eliminator 175 was priced around Rs. 90,000 ex-showroom during its peak. When considering on-road prices, which include additional costs such as registration, insurance, and other local taxes, the total would have been closer to Rs. 1.2 to 1.3 lakh. Given its features and performance, the price was somewhat steep for what it offered, especially when compared to other bikes in the same segment. However, the unique cruiser design and the brand reputation of Kawasaki and Bajaj might have justified the cost for some buyers. Its important to note that these prices are historical, as the bike is no longer in production.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 04:45 AM The Bajaj Eliminator 175 is known for its decent fuel efficiency, which is a crucial factor for many Indian buyers. With a claimed mileage of around 40-50 kmpl, depending on riding conditions, this bike offers a reasonable balance between performance and running costs. This makes it a viable option for daily commuting and short to medium-distance rides, especially considering the fuel prices in India.

FAQs

Most Popular FAQs for Bajaj Eliminator 175
  • Had the Eliminator 175 arrived ahead of its time for the Indian market?

    29 January 2025 09:06

I think it was just a little bit too late. But it probably would have been a runaway hit if it had come out just a few years later, when disposable incomes were higher and people had begun to think of motorcycles as more than just a means of transportation.

  • What is the legacy of Eliminator 175 on Bajaj’s current lineup?

    29 January 2025 09:06

What Bajaj doesn't do with the Eliminator may be more important than what it does. The implication is that they haven’t really tried to get back in to the cruiser market again as they have learned that they are better off focusing on segments where they can be market leaders.

  • Did Bajaj drop the ball by axing the Eliminator 175?

    29 January 2025 09:06

The Eliminator was never going to be a volume seller, let’s be real. Bajaj did a smart thing in focusing on more profitable segments. It’s a poker term largely, but sometimes you gotta know when to fold 'em.

  • Could the Eliminator 175 have become an electric cruiser?

    29 January 2025 09:06

I believe it might work, but it would require a complete redesign. Hiding the battery pack would be the challenge while maintaining that low slung cruiser look. However, if done right, it could appeal to cruiser fans as well as eco conscious riders.

  • The Bajaj Eliminator 175 is truly a ‘poor man’s Harley’?

    29 January 2025 09:06

I would say it was a decent entry level cruiser for the time. You won't be able to match a Harley, but it certainly gives you a taste of that cruiser riding position and style without the bank breaking. It was their first exposure to cruiser bikes for many Indians.
