Overview

At times, Bajaj Chetak was the most famous scooter produced by Bajaj Auto company. The company is situated in Pune, Maharashtra. The scooterette is named as Chetak after the name of a legendary horse of Maharana Pratap Singh, who was a Indian legend. Chetak was an affordable scooter for the people in India. It is having a power packed muscular look which is quite attractive.

Dimensions and Engine

The scooter has a height of 1080mm, 1770mm in length and 670.00 mm in width. It has a forced air cooled, 2-stroke engine which produces a displacement of 145.45cc. It produces a maximum power of 7.5Bhp @ 5500rpm and a 10.8Nm @ 3500rpm of torque. Chetak has a fuel tank with 6.50 litre capacity along with a 1.4 litre reserve capacity. The scooter delivers 60kmpl mileage which makes it fuel efficient. It is equipped with CDI electronic ignition type. There is only a manual start available for the scooter. This is provided with drum brakes for the strong braking system.

Suspension and Transmission

Chetak has a four speed, constant mesh transmission with a wet multidisc clutch which makes the engine powerful. Its suspension comes with a variable rate coil spring and double acting shock absorber for both front and rear areas.

Verdict

The scooter is not very royal in color styles but still it looks soothing to eyes. With the increase in need for cars and bikes, Chetak lost his holds in India and the company has discontinued its production in the year 2009.
