Thursday, 25 October 2012 04:18 PM The Altius Scimitar, a diesel-powered motorcycle, has been generating significant interest due to its unique multi-fuel capability. This bike can run on diesel, biodiesel, and various military fuel variants like JetA1, AVTUR, JP5, JP8, and AVCAT. This versatility is particularly appealing to military and adventure enthusiasts. I think this feature sets it apart from other motorcycles in the market.
Wednesday, 04 July 2012 06:42 PM Altius Automotive Technologies, based in Chennai, India, has collaborated with Hayes Diversified Technologies (HDT) to develop the Scimitar. The motorcycle uses a modified Kawasaki KLR650 engine, which is a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, four-stroke unit. This engine provides 33hp (24kW) and is known for its smooth operation across various rpm ranges.
Monday, 16 May 2011 11:22 PM The Altius Scimitar boasts a modern design, distinguishing it from its predecessor, the HDT M1030-M2 LE 670. With a 14lt fuel tank, it offers a theoretical range of around 600km on diesel and a top speed of approximately 150km/h. This makes it an attractive option for long-distance riders. I believe the design and performance make it a compelling choice for those seeking a durable and efficient bike.
Monday, 02 May 2011 07:57 PM The Scimitars engine is designed to be lightweight and compact, ensuring smooth turnover not just in low- to mid-rpm ranges but also at high rpm. This engineering makes the bike suitable for both urban and off-road riding. The indirect injection (IDI) system in the 670cc engine adds to its efficiency.
Tuesday, 03 May 2011 12:36 AM Altius Automotive Technologies is planning to capitalize on the Scimitars multi-fuel capabilities to target both civilian and military markets in India. The bikes ability to run on various fuels, including diesel and aviation kerosene, is seen as a significant advantage. I think this could be a game-changer for motorcycles in India, especially given the countrys diverse fuel landscape.

Discussions and Questions Altius Scimitar

Is this the spiritual successor to the Royal Enfield Taurus?
17 January 2025 07:48
The Taurus was in a league of its own, no way. It's that thumping diesel sound, and that sheer novelty, that can't be replicated. The Scimitar is cool, but it's not a proper successor.
Could the Altius Scimitar 670 Diesel be the ultimate bike for a pan India road trip?
17 January 2025 07:48
Absolutely! This makes it perfect for long trips through rural India where fuel quality can be iffy, just for the multi fuel capability. Plus, it’s military grade tough so it can take on anything the roads can throw at it.
The Altius Scimitar 670 Diesel might be the dark horse of Indian motorcycle industry.
17 January 2025 07:48
I believe it has potential, but Altius has to play their cards right. Team up with larger dealers, land some high profile endorsements and really promote the bike's USP. If it could be, it would be a game changer.
Is the Altius Scimitar 670 Diesel the ultimate zombie apocalypse bike?
17 January 2025 07:48
You're all missing the point. In a zombie apocalypse, reliability is the most important thing. As a result of the Scimitar's military heritage, it's built to last. There’s no fancy electronics to fail, just good old fashioned mechanical simplicity.
Could the Altius Scimitar 670 Diesel change the face of rural transportation in India?
17 January 2025 07:48
The potential here is greater than you think. The multi fuel capability is great for areas where fuel supplies are not reliable. It is also durable, so users will have lower long term costs.
