The 2024 Acura ZDX Type S is expected to arrive in the U.S. market by the end of Q1 2024. This high-performance variant of the ZDX features dual motors, all-wheel drive, and an air suspension with adaptive dampers. It also includes unique design elements like faux vents for cooling the battery pack. The Type S promises to deliver both power and range, making it an exciting addition to Acuras lineup.

Acura is planning to expand its electric vehicle lineup beyond the ZDX, with a three-row electric SUV and an electric sports car similar to the discontinued NSX slated for release in the late 2020s. These new models aim to help Acura reverse its declining sales. The electric sports car will be underpinned by Honda’s 0-Series platform, focusing on lightweight and thin batteries. I think this diverse EV lineup could be a game-changer for Acura.

Acuras upcoming electric vehicles, including the production version of the Performance EV Concept, are expected to play a crucial role in boosting the brands sales. Acura has reported a 12% decline in sales through the first seven months of 2024, but the introduction of compelling EVs could steer it back in the right direction. The new models will be produced at Acura’s new “EV Hub” in Marysville, Ohio. I believe these new EVs will be key to Acuras recovery.

Acura has unveiled the Performance EV Concept, which previews the design and technology of its upcoming electric vehicles. This concept, debuted at Monterey Car Week, features a sleek, coupe-like design with a taller ride height and 23-inch wheels. It also includes performance brakes and a front fascia inspired by hydrofoil superyachts. The production model is expected to launch in late 2025 on Honda’s in-house EV platform. I think this concept is a promising step towards Acuras electric future.
