Hero MotoCorp Ltd. is a motorcycle manufacturing company of India and is undoubtedly the largest one too. The company was founded in 1984 as a partnership between Hero Cycles of India and Honda of Japan and was called as Hero Honda. They have their headquarters in New Delhi and manufactured a lot of successful bikes during their joint endeavour. Their partnership broke down in 2010 and Hero changed its name to Hero MotoCorp Ltd. In July 2013, Hero made its ties to USA's street and racing motorcycle manufacturing company, Erik Buell Racing.

Now recently, Hero MotoCorp unveiled 15 of their restyled products at a press conference in Gurgaon on October 10, 2013. Hero Splendor is India's largest selling two-wheeler and thus to attract more customers in this festive season, the new Hero Splendor iSmart has been launched which got very positive reviews from everyone.

Design and Style

The new Hero Splendor iSmart has got some new and stylish graphics on its body which gives it certain distinctive look. It has got Self Start for the first time, dual-toned livery, a wide and comfortable seat, stylish new rear grab handles, 18-inch alloy wheels, a simple headlamp with cowl, nicely placed handle bar with black colored rear view mirrors, brake light at rear with indicators. But the feature that is getting everybody's attention is i3S technology (Idle Start and Stop System) which stops the engine automatically in idle position and turns it on when needed. This helps in maintaining a better mileage for this two-wheeler which is already famous for its high fuel economy and also helps in more restrained CO2 emissions.

Engine and Gearbox

The new Hero Splendor iSmart has the same 97.2cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, Air-cooled, Digital CDI, OHC based engine with a maximum power of 7.7 bhp at 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 8.04 Nm at 4500 rpm and has a 4-speed gearbox transmission. Due to the presence of i3S technology, there are speculations of a better mileage than before from this commuter. The bike also has a Tubular Double Cradle Frame type chassis.

Braking System

The new Hero Splendor iSmart has a stylish instrument console with an Analogue Speedometer and Fuel Gauge and a Low Fuel Indicator. It also has Internal Expanding Shoe type Drum Brakes of 130mm diameter at front and 110mm diameter at rear. The suspension system consists of Telescopic Hydraulic Shock Absorbers at front and Swing Arm type Shock Absorbers at rear.

Overall, the new Hero Splendor iSmart is a good combination of new features and it also excelled itself a lot in field of better mileage but it still needs a lot of improved in terms of styling.
