Do the Skoda Kamiq's 'Simply Clever' features really turn out to be useful, or are they just marketing gimics?

The Skoda 'Simply Clever' solutions are often hailed as an innovative way to solve everyday problems. Several of these — ice scraper in the fuel filler cap, umbrella in the driver's door, and a removable LED flashlight in the boot — are included on the Kamiq. These sound neat on paper, but it’s worth considering how often they’re actually used in real world scenarios. Are these features really useful additions to the experience of the car or are they just one of those marketing masterstrokes that aim to distinguish the Kamiq in a crowded market?- Ralph Hanson of Motoring Research, United Kingdom Argument rages whether these features add unnecessary complexity and potential failure points, or if they are simply convenient. So let’s take a look at how practical and valuable these “Simply Clever” features are in day to day life with the Skoda Kamiq.

I've had my Kamiq a year now and some of those Simply Clever features have actually proved surprisingly handy. On particularly frosty mornings, the ice scraper really is a lifesaver and I've used the umbrella so many times. The little things do count.

I believe most of these features are just gimmicks, honestly. So, who doesn't already have an ice scraper or umbrella? Skoda tries a bit too hard to be quirky. Maybe they should spend time to make core feature such as infotainment system or ride quality better.

I’ve owned a few cars and Skoda’s attention to detail is something I notice. Yes, some of these features may seem like gimmicks, but it’s nice to see that the company is thinking about real world usability. The LED flashlight has been useful in roadside emergencies.

I'm on the fence about this. Some of the features are really useful, others feel kind of forced. The real question is whether they make up for the Kamiq’s price premium over certain competitors.

Most of us forget these features even exist after the first month of ownership, so let’s be real. They're nice to have, but I wouldn't buy on them. Any day give me better fuel efficiency or more cargo space.

I feel we are missing the point here. It’s not going to be a game changer, but it adds character to the car. It's a breath of fresh air to see a manufacturer thinking outside the box instead of just numbers of horsepower.

Some of these features, as a parent, are absolutely practical. The windscreen washer has an integrated funnel in the actual tank, which has saved me before countless times from spills. These small conveniences make family life a little easier.
