Is the Skoda Kamiq's rear legroom as good as they say it is?

The Kamiq has been marketed by Skoda as having class leading rear legroom, making it a sensible purchase for families or people who regularly transport passengers. The claim has created much buzz and is often used as one of the main selling points for the vehicle. But marketing claims are not always the same as what you find in real life and the perception of the space can differ from person to person depending on what they expect and what they need. Space feeling is affected by seat design, floor height and general cabin layout. Rear seat comfort is also compared with other vehicles in the compact SUV segment when discussing the Kamiq. So here we are, to see if the Kamiq does indeed deliver on its promise of excellent rear legroom and whether it can make the cut as a family friendly car.

Having been 6'2" myself, I can say that the Kamiq's rear legroom is impressive. I can sit behind myself comfortably which is very rare in this class. It’s not quite limo level, but for a compact SUV, it’s top notch.

I feel the hype is a little overblown. Yes, the legroom is good, but it’s not a mind blowing. It’s just as spacious in the back as my friend’s Seat Arona. It's probably just Skoda doing a good job of marketing whatever it is they're marketing.

Leg room is fine, but I'm more impressed overall, for the amount of space they managed to cram in. The high roof and the flat floor in the back make it feel more open. It's more than just legroom.

The Kamiq's rear space is a godsend as a parent with two kids in car seats. I can actually reach back to help them without having to contort myself. Some may not care, but for families, it’s a plus.

The legroom hype sold me on a Kamiq. It's honestly good, but not revolutionary as I expected. What I didn't take into account is that the cabin width is pretty narrow, and three adults in the back can be a bit of a squeeze.

I was skeptical about how much space the Kamiq would have coming from a larger SUV. I've been pleasantly surprised, but. But it’s not just legroom: The large rear doors make getting in and out easy, and that makes the cabin feel roomy.

For most people, the rear legroom in the Kamiq is more than enough, let's be real. I think the space back there is perfectly adequate for a car in this class unless you're regularly chauffeuring NBA players.
