Should you pay the premium for the Bajaj Chetak 3501 TecPac over the standard model?
14 January 2025 10:58
It all really depends on your area. If you have Bajaj service in your area that is reliable, you might skip the TecPac. Otherwise, that extended warranty could save your life.

Honestly, I'm impressed. The Chetak is solid, if not better built than some petrol scooters I’ve owned.

It's good, but not great. It’s clear they’re still trying to figure out how to package all the EV components. A little plasticky in places.
How does the Bajaj Chetak 3501 build quality compare to its petrol version?

The build quality is fine, but long term durability is worrying. Will my old Activa hold up after 5 years?
How does the Bajaj Chetak 3501 build quality compare to its petrol version?
14 January 2025 10:58
It is unfair to compare, I think. It’s built differently because it has to be. It's apples and oranges.
How does the Bajaj Chetak 3501 build quality compare to its petrol version?

They are good quality, but they don't have that 'tank like' feel of old Bajaj scooters. Miss that heft sometimes.
How does the Bajaj Chetak 3501 build quality compare to its petrol version?
14 January 2025 10:58
It's a mixed bag. There are parts that feel premium, parts that feel like cost cutting. All in all, I’d put it on par with mid range petrol scooters.
How does the Bajaj Chetak 3501 build quality compare to its petrol version?

It has good build quality, but we’ll have to see how it ages. Ask me again in 3 years!
Does the Bajaj Chetak 3501's 'retro modern' design hit the spot or does it miss the point?

Love it! It’s a perfect mix of nostalgia and modern tech and it turns heads everywhere I go.

I think that's a missed opportunity. They could have gone full futuristic and stood out in the EV crowd.
Does the Bajaj Chetak 3501's 'retro modern' design hit the spot or does it miss the point?
14 January 2025 10:58
Retro look works, but I wish they'd modernized it a bit. Stuck between two worlds.

It's genius marketing. It attracts the older folks who remember the original Chetak and the younger ones who love retro vibe.

I'm torn. I love the retro touches but it can sometimes feel like it’s trying too hard. A bit gimmicky maybe?

The ride matters, the design is fine. In that department, it delivers, even if not for looks.

It's growing on me. I was not sure at first, but now I like its distinction from other generic looking EVs.
Can the Chetak 3501’s 153 km range be enough for urban Indian riders or is it still short of the mark?
14 January 2025 10:51
It's plenty for me! I commute 30 km a day, therefore I only need to charge once or twice a week. In fact, it's more convenient than having to stop at a petrol pump.
Can the Chetak 3501’s 153 km range be enough for urban Indian riders or is it still short of the mark?
14 January 2025 10:51
Not enough, in my opinion. If I want to book a weekend trip to a nearby town, what? Or if I forget to charge for one day? I can only feel comfortable with at least 200 km.
Can the Chetak 3501’s 153 km range be enough for urban Indian riders or is it still short of the mark?
14 January 2025 10:51
I think it's a good start, but we have to think that the real range may be less in the real world. Range can be reduced by traffic, using AC in the summer and carrying a pillion. It's okay, but not great.
Can the Chetak 3501’s 153 km range be enough for urban Indian riders or is it still short of the mark?
14 January 2025 10:51
For someone who's used EVs for years, 153 km is plenty. We overestimate how much we move each day. This is not about expecting EVs to measure up to petrol vehicles, it is about changing your charging habits.
Can the Chetak 3501’s 153 km range be enough for urban Indian riders or is it still short of the mark?

It’s great to use in the city, but I’m concerned about longer trips. If I need to go visit relatives in another city? There’s no charging infrastructure on highways and I’m reluctant.
