Did Bajaj make a mistake in discontinuing the Discover 150F?

Bajaj was too quick to pull the plug, I think. I believe they should have at least one major update addressing customer feedback if they were going to discontinue it.
Did Bajaj make a mistake in discontinuing the Discover 150F?

However, the Discover 150F was ahead of its time. As more people are looking for premium commuters, it might be a regret for Bajaj not to have a product in this segment. It could have been something really special.
Did the Discover 150F's semi fairing really bring anything to the table or was it just a gimmick?

I have ridden both the faired and non faired Discover 150 and frankly the fairing does make a difference on highway rides. On long trips, less wind blast equates to less fatigue.

Let’s be real, it’s mostly for looks. With the fairing being too small, there's no wind protection to offer. Nothing, just Bajaj trying to make a commuter bike look sportier.

It’s not a full on sports bike fairing, but it helps deflect some wind and rain. It also makes the bike look unique in a sea of naked commuters.
Did the Discover 150F's semi fairing really bring anything to the table or was it just a gimmick?

I think it's a bit of both. Some marginal benefits were provided by the fairing, but its real purpose was to justify a more expensive price tag and be a standout in the showrooms.

If you're someone who upgraded from Discover 125 to 150F, then fairing makes the ride at higher speeds much more comfortable. If you do a lot of highway riding, it’s not a gimmick.

Bajaj’s semi fairing was a smart move. This attracted buyers who wanted something a little more premium than the typical commuter, but without the cost of a fully fledged sports bike.

I took the fairing off my 150F out of curiosity, and did notice more wind blast, particularly around the chest. It may be subtle, but it definitely has its purpose.
Does the Bajaj Discover 150F live up to its 'king of mileage' tag in its segment?

I have had a Discover 150F for 2 years and I am getting a steady 65 kmpl in city riding. So this is not the 72 kmpl that Bajaj claimed, but it is still pretty impressive for a 150 cc bike.

Mileage king? No way! My Discover 150F gives way worse mileage than my friend's Honda CB Unicorn. I get 55 kmpl barely in city traffic.

You can't just be comparing raw numbers, guys. The Discover 150F offers a good balance of performance and mileage. Considering the power output, I’m getting 60 – 62 kmpl which is great.

I just don’t think the “king of mileage” title is anything more than marketing hype. Yes, it's fuel efficient but so are many other bikes in this segment. The Discover 150F is pretty good overall, and that’s what matters.

Mileage, in my experience, is very dependent on how you ride. I’ve managed to squeeze 68 kmpl on highway runs, with a light hand on the throttle. It's all about riding technique!

Fact is, a 150cc bike won’t give you the mileage of a 100cc commuter. The Discover 150F does a good job finding a balance between performance and efficiency, but it’s not the 'king.'

Regular maintenance definitely makes a big difference! Upon a proper tune up, I could get mileage of 55 to 63 kmpl on my Discover 150F. Take care of it and it will treat you well!
What could be the one change that takes the Bajaj Discover 150 Disc to the next level?

There's nothing hands down better than a good set of aftermarket shocks. The stock suspension is fine, but it’s a world of difference when you upgrade to something like Gabriel or YSS. On our pothole riddled roads, it transforms the ride quality.

The best mod was switching to a free flow air filter and getting the carb rejetted for me. It’s not a huge power boost, but the bike is more responsive, and I even saw a slight improvement in fuel efficiency. Win-win!

The most practical mod by far was also the most impactful for me – a good quality luggage rack and top box. This turned my Discover into a much more versatile daily rider. Not sexy, but incredibly useful.

Against the grain here I’m going to go, and say the best mod is no mod at all. As it is, the Discover 150 Disc is perfectly balanced. I've tried every mod, and each one has improved one thing and another at the expense of another. Sometimes stock is best.
