Is the Bajaj Discover 125 Disc Brake good for daily commuting in heavy traffic?

by @ashutosh.kumarover 1 year ago0 views7 answers
It is rather a popular model for daily commutes and the disc brake version of the Bajaj Discover 125 is often claimed to have an edge in urban traffic situations. But there is debate over how much these benefits actually matter to the average city rider. Others say the disc brake model has better braking performance, which increases safety and confidence in stop and go traffic and in sudden stops. But some argue that for normal city speeds and circumstances the difference is negligible and not worth the additional expense. Ease of maintenance, reliability in dusty conditions and performance in monsoon weather are other factors. Is the disc brake version really worth choosing for someone who mostly commutes by bike in a crowded city?

I've ridden both and the disc just feels better. It's not just about stopping power, it's the whole feel and control thing.

The great thing about the disc brake is that I wish Bajaj had included CBS. That’d make it ideal for city commuting.

It's too much for just pure city. Instead, save the money and invest in a good helmet. And that'll do more for your safety.

The bike's nimble handling is the real advantage in traffic, but the disc is nice. For lane splitting, how much matters more than brake type.

In the rain, it's a game changer and I switched from drums to disc. Now, monsoon commuting feels much safer.

You won’t notice a huge difference for most city riding, honestly. Of course I should’ve used drums when I wasn’t riding aggressively.

Absolutely. In heavy traffic, sudden braking situations happen all the time, and the disc brake gives you much more confidence than the drum brake. Worth every penny.
