In real city conditions, how does the Bajaj Discover 125 Disc Brake's fuel efficiency compare to its competitors?
In the 125cc segment, it’s often the fuel efficiency that matters for many buyers and the Bajaj Discover 125 is lauded for its economical performance. But it's a matter of debate about how it actually fares in real world conditions compared to its competitors, especially the disc brake, which will probably be slightly heavier. Riders seem to get excellent mileage that matches or exceeds the company's claims, though some find it falls short, especially in heavy traffic. Riding style, maintenance and even disc brake system weight may actually use up more fuel. We also discuss whether any minor loss in efficiency is paid for by the added safety of the disc brake. So how does the Discover 125 Disc fare in day to day use when it comes to fuel economy for budget conscious commuters who look for best bang for their buck and won’t mind a bit of compromise here and there?
In city traffic, I get a pretty impressive 65 kmpl consistently. My friend’s Honda shine is more efficient than this.
I think the disc version drinks a little more fuel. It's only about 5-7 kmpl less than the claimed figure, but that’s decent.
It’s super sensitive to riding style, but fuel efficiency is good. Ride aggressively and it plummets. Smooth riding is key.
I went from a Splendor to the Discover and my fuel costs actually went up. It was noticeable, not by much.
It's right in line with the majority of 125cc bikes I've ridden. The real advantage is that you have a larger fuel tank, meaning fewer fill ups.
It's thirstier than I expected in stop and go traffic. It is great on open roads, however. Pretty good overall, averages out.
Most 125cc bikes are honestly not far apart with regards to fuel efficiency. It is not exceptional, but competitive.
