Maruti Ritz ZXi

About
The Maruti Suzuki Ritz ZXi is built on the same platform as the Swift but distinguishes itself with a unique tall-boy design that offers ample interior space. Powered by the Maruti Suzuki K12 engine, which produces 86 bhp and 115 Nm of torque, the car comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The ZXi variant is well-equipped with features like front discs and rear drum brakes with ABS EBD, wider 185 section tyres on 14-inch alloy wheels, all four power windows, dual airbags, an integrated music system, and manual AC. The cars heavier build, around 1100 kg, contributes to its stability and sporty handling, making it a pleasure to drive on both city roads and highways. The interior, while spacious and comfortable, has some areas for improvement in terms of material quality. Overall, the Ritz ZXi is a practical, comfortable, and feature-rich hatchback that offers great value for money.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Maruti Suzuki Ritz ZXi is a compelling package that blends practicality, comfort, and performance, making it a strong contender in the hatchback segment. Despite being from a brand often criticized for build quality, the Ritz stands out with its solid build and heavier controls, which contribute to its stability and sporty handling. The K12 engine, though not as lively in lower RPMs, delivers impressive performance in the mid to higher range, and the suspension is firm, providing a comfortable ride even on potholed roads. The interior is spacious, with good legroom and headroom, although some users have noted average quality in certain interior components. Overall, the Ritz ZXi offers great value for money, especially considering its safety features like ABS EBD and dual airbags, making it an excellent choice for families and practical buyers.
Price
When the Maruti Suzuki Ritz ZXi was available in the market, its pricing was highly competitive. The ex-showroom price for the ZXi variant in India was around 5.7 lakhs, which, when including taxes and other costs, would bring the on-road price to approximately 6.5 lakhs, depending on the city. This pricing made it an attractive option compared to other hatchbacks in its segment, such as the Swift ZXi, which was priced higher. The value-for-money aspect was further enhanced by the inclusion of several safety and convenience features, making it a steal for buyers looking for a well-rounded hatchback.
Latest Updates
Tuesday, 28 February 2017 01:21 AM The Maruti Ritz was known for its comfortable ride and spacious interiors, making it a favorite among older people and those looking for a hassle-free driving experience. The car came with both petrol and diesel engine options, with the diesel variant being more popular due to its fuel efficiency. I think the Ritzs comfort and practicality were its strongest selling points.
Friday, 17 April 2015 10:01 AM Maruti Suzuki has discontinued the production of the Maruti Ritz in India, with the hatchback now only available for purchase by cab operators for a limited time. This move marks the end of an era for a car that sold around 4 lakh units over its eight-year run. I believe this decision was necessary to make way for newer models, but its sad to see a reliable car like the Ritz go.
Monday, 14 July 2014 10:58 AM Maruti Suzuki introduced the limited edition Ritz Elate in 2014, offering discounts of up to Rs 65,000 to attract more buyers. This special edition came with various cosmetic and feature upgrades to make the car more attractive. I believe such limited editions are a good way to keep older models relevant in the market.
Friday, 19 July 2013 06:05 AM Maruti Suzuki launched the automatic version of the Maruti Ritz, which was a significant addition to the model lineup. This automatic variant was designed to make driving easier, especially in heavy traffic conditions. I believe this was a smart move to cater to the growing demand for automatic transmissions in India.
Thursday, 23 August 2012 08:01 AM The Maruti Ritz received a facelift in 2012, which included significant updates such as a new automatic gearbox in the petrol variant and additional safety features like ABS and airbags in the ZDi diesel variant. This facelift aimed to make the Ritz more appealing and competitive in the B+ segment hatchback market. I think these updates were a great move to enhance the cars appeal, especially with the addition of an automatic transmission.
Mileage
Friday, 22 November 2024 01:06 PM The mileage of the Maruti Suzuki Ritz ZXi is decent but varies based on driving conditions. In city driving with full AC usage, you can expect around 8-10 kmpl, while off-peak hours might yield 10-12 kmpl. On highways, the car can deliver up to 16-18 kmpl if driven conservatively. While these figures are not the best in its class, they are reasonable given the cars performance and features. This makes the Ritz ZXi a balanced choice for those concerned about both performance and running costs.

I am riding Ritz since two years. It's a good car for small family of four members. The overall design is nice and different. Most of it, it's a fuel efficient car which is the prime need of every buyer. Initially, I got 12kmpl average through this car which later improved to 14kmpl. Yes, now it is constant at 14. I believe it depends upon the driving skills also that how well you treat your car. I always drive at moderate speed with less gear shifting. Ergonomically, its really amazing with good rolling of seats. The front seats are good enough to provide clear visibility of the road thanks to high driving position. The rear seats are also comfortable for long tours and it support lots of spaces for needy stuff. Overall, it provides smooth drive even with 5 on-board passengers. I must recommend this car to everyone.
