Ford Motor India announced the discontinuation of the Ford Fiesta Classic, now known as the Ford Classic, on April 17, 2015. This move was to make way for the upcoming Figo Aspire. The Ford Classic, including the LXI Diesel variant, was powered by a 1.4 liter TDCI turbo diesel engine and had a mileage of 20 kmpl. I believe this decision was strategic to focus on newer models, but it marked the end of an era for a reliable and fuel-efficient car.

Ford India introduced a limited edition of the Classic sedan based on the CLXi variant in 2013. This limited edition included new accessories previously available only in the top-of-the-line models. Although not specifically focused on the LXI Diesel, it showed Fords commitment to enhancing the Classic series. I believe such limited editions can boost sales and customer interest.

In July 2012, Ford India introduced the Ford Classic Titanium, which included the Diesel LXI variant. This model featured a 1.4-litre Duratorq diesel engine, a five-speed manual transmission, and a mileage of 20 kmpl. The Titanium variant also came with enhanced interior features like beige interiors. I think this update was a great move to keep the Classic competitive in the market.

Ford India launched the Fiesta Classic with new trims, including the LXI and CLXI, in 2011. The Diesel LXI variant was priced at Rs. 648,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and offered a mileage of 18.6 kmpl. The new variants included refreshed interiors and new body colors. I believe these updates made the Fiesta Classic more attractive and affordable for Indian buyers.

In 2011, Ford India reported a significant increase in sales, with the diesel variants of the Figo and Fiesta Classic being in high demand due to rising petrol prices. To meet this demand, Ford expanded its engine plant in Chennai. This move indicated strong market demand for the Fiesta Classics diesel variants. I think this was a smart response to market conditions.
