Ford Motor India announced the discontinuation of the Ford Fiesta Classic, now known as the Ford Classic, on April 17, 2015. This move was to clear the path for the upcoming Figo Aspire. The Ford Classic CLXi Diesel, with its 1.4-liter TDCI turbo diesel engine, was a popular choice for its fuel efficiency and performance. I think this decision was a strategic move to focus on newer models, but its a shame to see such a reliable car go.

The car was part of Fords effort to increase local content to 85%, reducing the initial cost and making it more competitive in the Indian market. I think this focus on mileage and cost-effectiveness was a key selling point.

In 2012, Ford dropped the Fiesta from the Fiesta Classic and rebranded it as the Ford Classic, which included a Titanium variant. The Ford Classic CLXi Diesel retained the same 1.4-liter Duratorq diesel engine, producing 68PS and 160Nm of torque. I believe this rebranding helped in giving the car a fresh appeal in the market.

Ford launched the Fiesta Classic with new trims, including the CLXi, in both petrol and diesel options. The CLXi Diesel variant came with a 1.4-liter Duratorq engine and a five-speed manual transmission. This launch was part of Fords strategy to penetrate deeper into the entry-level sedan segment. I think this was a smart move to offer more features at an affordable price.
