Mahindra Centuro Review
Quick Review by Maxabout Team
Mahindra has added another bike to its line up in India. This is a premium entry level bike named as Centuro. This bike will be competing with recently launched bikes like Hero Passion xPro, Honda Dream Yuga, Yamaha SZ-RR, TVS Sport ES and Bajaj Discover 100T. What this bike has to offer, let’s find out.
Design and Style
Mahindra has tried their level best to make this bike look mature and premium than other entry level bikes. In fact, they have tried so hard that this bike resembles a lot to its main competitor, Passion xPro. The face and side styling of this bike is not something we have not seen before. Its alloy wheels, front fender and rear view mirrors are similar to its younger sibling, Pantero which means it doesn’t look stylish and premium. It has a simple and full size front cowl and tinted visor. Its headlight with pilot lamps in not impressive either. We wish if it had more aggression in its style. The bike has black colored engine and muffler which is very simple and lacks the sporty appearance. The twin moulded golden pipes are placed just below its fuel tank which doesn’t gel with the overall styling of this bike and looks awkward. Its full size fuel tank and side panel features graphics on them which can’t hold your attention for sure. The bike has a regular grab rail at the back which makes it look proportionate and complements the rear styling which has a wide fender with clear lens indicators. The tail lamp is adjusted well in the rear cowl just above its fender.
Instrument Console
Surprisingly, the bike features a new instrument console which is completely different than the one used in Pantero. It has a combined analogue digital instrument console with all essential LED indicators in it. The bike features a circular dial which partly displays its digital speedometer and rest of the dial houses an analogue Tachometer. There are other two LCDs also which comes with service reminder and distance to empty feature. The bike has digital odometer, 2-trip meter and fuel gauge. This instrument console comes with a unique white back lit which looks best at night. Apart from this, the bike has a cool key remote with a LED which helps you to look for ignition switch even in dark.
Engine and Gearbox
Unfortunately, the bike shares its engine with its younger sibling. It’s a mono cylinder, 4-stroke 106cc engine which produces a peak power of 8.5 bhp at 7500 rpm. This air-cooled engine generates a maximum torque output of 8.5 nm which is accessible at 5500 rpm. This bike also has a four speed gearbox with all gears up shift pattern.
Acceleration and Performance
There is no surprise in the performance and acceleration of this engine. The engine pulls up power early and works in a very relaxed manner. The 0-60 km/hr timing of 8.85 seconds is disappointing though. The taller gear ratios becomes a bit irritating in city traffic as sometimes you have to search for the power but things improve once you go pass the 3000 rpm mark. The bike can cross the speed of 100 km/hr and can beat other competitors while doing so. Engine refinement is not best in its segment but can’t be much criticized thanks to its strong high speed performance. There are no changes made to the regular gearbox of Pantero and everything feels the same.
Mileage
The fuel efficiency of Centuro ranges from 62-65 km/ltr in city conditions while you can expect this bike to return a mileage of around 68-70 km/ltr on long runs.
Comfort while Driving
Mahindra Centuro has a wide seat which confirms you optimum under thigh support with proper back support. The front set foot pegs favours the city commuters while its up raised handle bar makes sure that it can be grabbed easily. The plastic material on this handlebar is quite soft to touch and everything can be easily operated. The bike has standard electric start which helps you a lot while turning this bike on and off in city traffic frequently.
Storage Space and Safety Features
Mahindra Centuro offers you some under seat storage space. Apart from front leg guard and rear saree guard, this bike becomes India’s first bike to offer safety features like Anti-theft system with an inbuilt engine immobilizer and guide lamps which illuminate to show you path at night even after you go away.
Suspension and Brakes
The hydraulic telescopic front forks and five way adjustable rear coil shock absorbers of Pantero can also be seen doing duty in this bike. Both wheels of Mahindra Centuro are equipped with drum brakes of 130mm. There is still no optional front disk brake from Mahindra which is a big disappointment.
Ride and Handling
Mahindra Centuro is slightly different than its sibling in terms of ride and handling. Apart from high ground clearance, there is no difference between these both bikes. It has a high ground clearance of 173 mm which helps you to turn this bike around corners and you can also safely go pass most of the obstructions on our Indian roads. The bike has a wheelbase of 1265 mm which adds to the stability of Centuro and that holds this bike well at high speeds. We wish if it had a front disc brake as you will miss it in city traffic where you need precise braking. The suspension quality is not satisfactory either and that affects its handling on highways.
Shades and Variants
Mahindra Centuro is available in only one variant: Centuro 110. It is available in two shades: Red and Black.
Verdict
Mahindra has priced the Centuro very competitively at INR 45000 (approx., may vary). We don’t think it’s a value for money bike as there are other powerful and smarter bikes than Centuro which are available at a cheaper price. Also, there is no variant on offer which features front disc brake.

What is the mileage of Mahindra Centuro O1-D in city?
29 December 2022 05:46The Mahindra Centuro is expected to return a mileage of 55-60 kmpl in the city. It is one of the most fuel efficient motorcycles in India but the only factor which sets it back is the brand value of Mahindra, which is still struggling to establish in the two wheeler segment. People prefer buying a motorcycle with lesser mileage than Mahindra Centuro. The trend would be changed if Mahindra launch the Mojo with an attractive price and excellent built quality. The Centuro is powered by a 106.7 cc engine, producing 8.5 BHP.

User Reviews for Mahindra Centuro
Mahindra Centuro Bike
Mahindra Centuro Red Color Bike. I have been using it since 2013, This is one of the best bike for me. People may not believe that after buying only free Servicing has been done and after that, I just changed engine oils as per the needs. Till today my bike is in new condition. The color is the same. Even i have not at all changed any parts. Thanks to Mahindra. I have a request to you must have service center for this particular bike. Thanks.
Mahindra Centuro NXT is superb
80 kmpl of mileage, smooth ride quality and impressive acceleration makes it a superb package. It even rides well in hilly areas.
Best Features: Good looks and mileage
Pros: Good pickup
Cons: No complaints
Never Expected Such a Bad Vehicle from Mahindra
The worst Bike that ever had. The engine is just like the engine of Scooty. Vehicle gets vibrate after getting speed of 40 KM/hr. Very good and impressing overall look, but useless bike. Never go for this bike. I lost my Rs.51000/-
Best Features: Nothing to say about good features
Pros: Overall shape
Cons: The worst Bike that ever had. The engine is just like the engine of Scooty
WORSE THAN THE WORST BIKE
I purchased Pantero in 2013 in Chennai and since purchase to till date, it is giving a lot of troubles. Very horrible bike and it is a curse to purchase this bike. I am told by the showroom people that Centuro too is having similar type of engine and other specifications except few. Therefore I request every one not to purchase the Centuro. For poor performance of Pantero, I am going to file a complaint against Mahindra in consumer forum. My email is kslnarain@gmail.com and contact no. 98814154888.
Best Features: ONLY LOOKS AND SEAT LENGTH
Pros: NOTHING TO SAY
Cons: MANY THINGS TO BE DISLIKED
Not a Worthy Investment
Buying a bike was not an easy decision for me. I was quite confused while purchasing new bike so after long research I was planning to go with Mahindra Centuro. Looks and design wise, I am quite satisfied and happy with my motorcycle. Its elegant looks and whole muscular body looks great and it fully satisfy my needs. It has a comfortable pillion seat but needs more improvement specially for the rider. It offers a maximum speed of 105 kmph. The motorcycle does not vibrate up to 70 kmph but as you moves higher and cross 75+ kmph it starts vibrating. It is equipped with 18-inch wheels, it's ride and handling balance is terrific. If you are searching for a bike with a good mileage this bike is definitely not meant for you, and the engine also does not seem to give you a tension free ride in the long run, but the looks and features may attract you and another positive thing for the bike is it's pricing.
Best Features: Stylish & Economical
Pros: Economical, comfortable pillion seat, stylish
Cons: Vibration
