Vehicle Overview | Mahindra Arro is an entry level motorcycle that is retailed by the Indian manufacturer in certain nations but not in India. It is powered by a 106.7 cc, single cylinder engine producing 8.5 BHP at 7500 rpm and 8.5 Nm at 5500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 4-speed gearbox. It weighs 120 kg, making it nearly 10-20 kg heavier than other motorcycles in its lineup. Mahindra recently launched the Arro, a commuter bike in Uganda, South Africa. It is expected to be launched in India by the end of 2015 or by early 2016. Let's take a closer look at its specifications.
Design and Style
The Mahindra Arro is the re-designed version of 'Pantero', a bike which is specially made for South Africa. It uses the double cradle steel chassis or frame which makes it a solid and rugged bike. The highlights include traditional round headlamp unit, durable body colored metallic front fender, extra-long seat, protective petrol tank pad and pass button. The turn indicators are quite flexible that prevents breakage by impact to an extent. The rear end receives tubular carrier plus grab rail to tether load along with a trendy LED tail light setup.
Instrument Panel
The motorcycle's instrument console is analogue and the design is strictly rudimentary. The panel comprises of a speedometer and fuel gauge along with low fuel indicator for the comfort of rider.
Dimensions and Fuel Tank Capacity
The Arro comes with a length of 2000 mm, width of 735 mm and a height of 1050 mm as its dimensions along with a kerb weight of 120 Kgs. The fuel tank can hold a 13.70-litres of fuel and is fitted with aircraft type fuel filler cap.
Engine and Gearbox
The Mahindra Arro is powered by a 106.7cc, MCi-5 engine which generates a maximum power of 8.5 bhp at 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 8.5 Nm at 5500 rpm. The engine is mated to a four speed transmission. It has a bore into stroke ratio of 52.4 mm and 49.5 mm respectively.
Brakes and Suspension
The motorcycle comes equipped with 130 mm drum brakes on both the front as well as rear end. The bike rides on a finely tuned suspension comprising of heavy-duty telescopic hydraulic damped at the front while 5-step adjustable, coiled hydraulic damped are placed at the back which makes it perfect for rough and tough roads.
Ride and Handling
It is a great comfort to ride this amazing commuter. It has a ground clearance of 165 mm and a wheelbase of 1265 mm which gives you a safe ride. The motorcycle is stable around corners and in city traffic. It has got a tyre size of 2.75x18-inch at the front and 3.0x18-inch wheel at the back. It does not have the option of self-start.
